Amend The "Personal Information" Spam Forum Rule

As it stands the rule is currently worded as follows:

Personal Information of other members

• Including but not limited to: names, pictures, social media links, emails and contact details etc or quotes from the Personal Support forum, regardless of whether or not the information is publicly available.

This seems rather vague and has resulted in aggressive bans that should not be present.

I believe the rule should specify on the "publicly available" wording at the end of the rule. If a picture is posted publicly ON SYTHE it should not result in a ban. Should that individual wish to rescind their original post and delete said content, they can do that and request removal of the SF thread. It seems a bit extreme to me that we are going to hand out 1 month bans for pictures already posted available to the entire community willingly by the poster. Someone could simply paste in the direct link to the original post where the picture is and that doesn't warrant a ban; yet it has the same effect? Seems like an imperfect rule that needs to be amended.

On that note, I do entirely agree if the picture is posted elsewhere publicly (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc) it should result in said ban; but this is taking it to the extreme.

Well if the picture wasn't posted on Sythe then obviously it would be grounds for a ban, and according to the rules since Chloe is a staff member now it would be a 6 month ban instead of a 1 month ban?

The context? This is not about one individual event. This is an amendment to the rule as a whole.

 

How is this not about one event? You literally only posted this because Brandon got banned for posting a picture of Chloe.

 

I don't get the "whether or not the information is publicly available", seems incredibly out of line with the site's policies.

What if we quote a "Faces of Sythe" post, is that a bannable offense too then? Spam forum shouldn't have stricter rules than the site itself.

My post has nothing to do with the current Chloe situation though since that's different.

 

That rule should not exist and it should only go based on the rule in the official site wide rules that specifically and purposely only mentions private photos.

 

When I wrote the actual site wide rule we added the "regardless if publically available" specifically because someone looked up the owner of a gold sellers website and posted his full name and address everywhere. That was malicious and we did not want that to be allowable. I have no idea why the spam forum of all places needed a stricter rule.

 

The wording is somewhat ambiguous you're right but my understanding and how it was always enforced when I was on staff was if they posted it on sythe then you're fine to repost it - for example you would be able to repost the one she posted in her AMA so long as you didn't edit the picture. Posting from elsewhere is not okay without the person's express permission as it's ultimately up to them how much of themselves or if they even want to share their pictures on sythe or not.

  • For clarity, this means if the information you wish to post about a user is NOT publicly available on Sythe.org, then it is a breach of this rule to post it.

From what I know is Lean made about a topic in SF about Chloe being attractive, and somebody posted the picture from her AMA in the thread and they were banned.

But if that's the case, why wouldn't Giddy be banned seeing as he just linked someone to the thread that had her picture in it in the first place? I don't think there's much difference between these two situations.

 

Because your going externally to another place on sythe instead of bringing it somewhere you don't want it. Chloe wants to have her picture on her AMA thread. She may not want it in the spam forum where specific rules don't exist.

This is exactly the reason why you can't quote users posts from the personal support forum and link it in the spam forum.

Just to clear things up, because I'm sick of drama being circled towards me.

User A posted a picture of me that was not posted on Sythe.org (it was on my facebook and given to other friends in private.)
User A posted it in the SF for a short period of time.
I saw the deleted posted because someone had quoted it, I gave out a warning saying if he posts my pictures that are not PUBLICLY available then he would serve a 1 month ban.

I had no problem giving him a warning, even though the picture he posted was a private picture.

Preventing users from posting information that was already disclosed was not the purpose of the personal information rule when it was created so it shouldn't be applied that way unless the rule is changed and clarified.

 

Although I see Chloe's post now, I just want to state that it would've been already on Sythe and there would've been nothing holding anyone back from making comments about it in the SF anyway. If he didn't post it, someone could have linked it or told them where it was. What's the difference? Taking an extra two minutes of someones time?

Seems pretty clear to me. The information is publicly available elsewhere on Sythe, and is personal based on the information listed. There's nowhere stating information elsewhere on Sythe means its okay to post on the spam forum

Are not allowed. So if we have a user who just joined Sythe and post in personal support/post personal pictures of themselves then even attacking them in the spam forum without linking them is against the rules.

 

Rules trash, scrap it or amend it to allow more information.
