AltCoin Suggestions & Experiences

Hey, I trade Bitcoin back and forth. Mainly arbitrage, my friend told me it was altcoin season and a lot of coins were getting pumped every day. I want to throw $1000 into Binance and buy some altcoins. I will definitely be doing my own research but I'm curious,

What are YOUR experiences with altcoins and what are a few altcoins you would suggest taking a look at?

I think that Monero is a great one, it's the largest privacy currency and one of the only truly fungible coins among the top.

For long term investments I think that ETH may be the best choice. It has the most projects built around it, with most altcoins actually being ERC-20 tokens. ETH is getting a proof of stake upgrade soon, and on Uniswap the trading volume of ETH based tokens recently surpassed Coinbase's volume.
