Alcohol Illegal?

Should alcohol be illegal? I know some people think so, having read some posts on what dpunk and Slave have said. Personally, I think alcohol is horrible. I've had some very bad experiences with it in my life (prefer not to talk about) that have changed me for the worse. Even if they don't make it illegal, it needs to be more controlled. Like selling it only if it's under 15%. All the bad things that have happened around me have happened with 35%+. IF they do allow hard liquor then I think it should be at bars, where they can control the amount you get. Another thing is alcohol is a whole lot worse than marijuana. If you've read my thread on pot, then you know I'm for it being legal, but alcohol is a lot more addicting. Alcohol will give you a physical and mental craving after a while. You'll drink yourself into a stupor and possibly hurt yourself and/or others without even knowing what you're doing. With weed you feel really good AND you can control your actions if you're an experienced stoner. So, that's just how I feel about it, post whatever you feel, I don't care.

No drugs should be illegal, I know people get addicted and stuff, it ruins lives, but no one forces you to do it, people choose to do it themselves. Besides no matter how much stuff is illegal there is always something for people to get high off of.

beer can mess you up big time like my brother has bad experiences, but if u can control you intake and if ur goal isn't to get hammered then you won't be bad. as for drugs being better then alchola i have to disagree about that. ive never been high but i do believe it is harder on ur brain then alcohol. id say even if beer is illegal people will still make it and sell it because its a huge market that would be very tough to shut down.

I like alcohol too. But for one thing, if you're completely stoned it's a lot easier than being completely drunk. I've been both, so I know how it feels. Maybe it's the way my body reacts to it, but pot is so much easier. And I didn't say make beer illegal. And think about what alcohol will do to your liver over time? I know the same thing happens with pot, but still, they're practically handing out liver failure. (But they're handing out lung cancer with cigarettes)

No it should stay legal. Just because you dont know when to stop, doesnt mean other people are going to drink themselves into retardation. I have some friends that I need to baby sit, not literaly they'll keep drinking they dont know when they have had enough.

Heres another thing, I think the legal drinking age should be lowered to 18. Once you here the valid point you would agree.

In the united states, Teen's (18 year olds) are aloud to register in the armed forces. I'll use marines as example. They are aloud to join the marines.

Everyday they are out there they run the risk of being shot, blown up by suicide bombers, RPG's blowing up in their convoys.

So if you can get shot at LEGALLY at 18, you should be able to drink at 18

I dont really see them handing out anything. People are not be'ing force fed beer and cigarettes. They made the distructive choice themselve.

No drugs should be illegal. You can't say a substance will affect an entire race the same way. Many people can use heroin recreationally (contrary to popular belief) but others will make a habit of it. It's the same story with alcohol. Tons of people will drink themselves to death but others have the intelligence to know when to stop.


HOWEVER if we're picking which substances should and shouldn't be legal (which is fucking stupid, stop letting the government make decisions of what YOU can do for you) it should become legal. It is one of the worst things you can do to yourself, I shit you not.

Various Hallucinogens (Some sort of exam before ingesting these would be mandatory)
Various dissociatives (Some sort of exam before ingesting these would be mandatory)


Illegal -
Amphetamines (Perhaps have a program for obtaining because they can be very useful, take truck drivers for instance)
Opiates and Opioids
Cocaine products
Alcohol
Tobacco


And fucking abolish the analog act, everything else is not regulated and you can't sue anyone if YOU fuck up YOUR life.

ROFL. When alcohol become illegal i'll eat my hat. It's too much of a money spinner for the Australian government over here, it's like smoking. The Government puts all these advertisements on television about how it gives you Heart disease and emphysaema (sp?) etc, Whereas they could just outlaw it. THEY MAKE TOO MUCH MONEY FROM IT. It isn't really an issue as to whether it should be illegal or not, as some people before me have said the amount that is being handed out. Yes I know, It's a bit hard to control with Liquor stores but meh, you could somehow find a way around it.

EDIT: Making some drugs legal could actually benefit the community, as the government COULD exercise control as to what goes in it, and enforces it solidly.Dunno about eccy's (MDMA) though, I reckon its a tad too dangerous, even WITHOUT putting anything extra in it. It would mainly be for marijuana I think. There are quite a few pro's and cons towards drugs and alcohol, but yeah.

Well alcohol unfortunately never become illegal again in the US, the retarded government made laws that prevent the making of future laws that prohibit alcohol.
