Ability to See Previous Edits

From my past experience I 100% know it is a feature with newer vBulletin software than this, not sure if it goes all the way to 3.6.4 like this but I know its in 4+.

Definitely possible, a plug-in/modification could be made by someone with the know-how

 

All i know is that i support the feature of seeing past edits.
afaik not even mods can see that.

I believe that your issue could be remedied by using the shortcut "ctrl+Z" if you're on a windows pc, or "command+Z" on a mac. This will undo any of your most recent changes. You can also REDO, as in reverse your UNDO, by pressing "Ctrl+Y" or "command+Y".
Unless your problem is that you press "save" and then decide that you liked the old thread layout better. You could just copy the entire thread to your clipboard or paste it into a notepad window before making any significant changes so that you could always change your mind. There's also the "preview thread/post" option, which allows you to view your thread as it would appear posted and then allow you to make any necessary edits.

I don't support this feature. I think it would be a waste of Sythe's time to add a feature that could be remedied by the user with little effort.

It may in certain situations be a useful feature but it isn't of dire necessity.

 

I've totally agreed with everything you said. The only reason I'm continuing this thread is because I want this feature to be added for at least Staff, if not the people who made the Thread at all.

Reasons:
*Fake Vouch Reports would not need a picture,and if one forgot to take a picture, Staff could look at the Edits of the reported Vouch Thread.

*If one decided to scam and they removed their Skype from their post-Staff could easily find it out

*Tons of others...I just can't think right now

Was told it adds too much stress, but imo is completely necessary given the nature of the forums.

 

Would add a lot more transparency in original posts. I would only support if its for staff.

I mean I would like Original thread makers to get this feature too, but if you can't, at least staff should get it.

 

I mean.. when have you ever really needed to check someone's edit history as staff? I was on for almost 2 years and I don't think I ever once needed that for a scam report etc.

Let people have some privacy, it's kind of pointless.

 

Often times people will change their Skype address if they see a vader report on themselves or have scammed with that Skype so they change it after. It'd be nice to see the previous edited Skype.

 

Then maybe only for admins. I'd feel pretty uncomfortable if there was no way to delete anything I said, as would others. Giving it to admins would solve the few cases it could be helpful.

 

I recall this being denied previously for that reason. Edits can contain a lot of text. I am nearly positive it is built into this version of Vb and would just be a checkbox in the AdminCp.

 

no support for staff seeing edits, i often remove information by editing it out of my posts, i edit shit for a reason not so some jacked up cunt wearing a santa hat decides he's hot shit and can see what i posted

I don't see why not. I wrote a paragraph the other day and pressed CRTL+R which reloaded the screen for me and all my text was gone.

I will offer up some support for staff to be able to see edits but not for all members.

 

This puts a lot stress on a DB, probably not going to happen.

 

It's not supported by Sythe.org's vBulletin version, and I remember the admins discussing that it's not worth the risk of upgrading.

 

Support staff being able to see edits and seeing own edits. Not really a point of seeing other people's edits.

Only if its possible to be done on the site of course

 

I've brought this up with Richard, and he said he'd think about it. As of right now, this is still kind of in the air.
