Ability to See Previous Edits

Pretty self-explanatory. Might just be me, but I sometimes edit something by mistake, and then I need to know what was written before. This is mainly for sales.

Don't know if this would be only available to staff or to only the thread's owner, but guess it should be restricted to those two only.

Even if this doesn't affect you, won't be a bad thing if this was added to help others like me.

Defeats the purpose of learning from your mistakes.

I've never seen this feature on any vBulletin forum.

 

How does not being able to see your edits allow you to learn from your mistakes?

I'd support this for Mods only, which helps with scam reports.

 

Pretty sure mods and staff can already view edits.

Post the link of the thread into the Google Chrome address bar, or into Google itself and perform a search.

The thread will be displayed. Click to the right of the link and you'll have the ability to view cached versions of the web page.

If this doesn't help, then I suggest you save a copy of your thread code before you make any changes.

A common mistake is editing a post with missing text. It's not that big of a deal, and is a mistake that should be learned from.

 

Support, it is useful for catching people trying to cover up evidence, etc. I didn't realize that Sythe didn't already have this...

 

I would support this, but is it even possible? Not sure if the site mechanics would be able to do this.

Actually they cannot.

Either way, I'd support an add-on for staff to be able to view cached/pre-edited versions of posts/threads, but not for all users.

This was denied before due to database bloat concerns, I believe. It is a built in VB feature, I also believe.

sounds like a good idea, in case any users decide to scam and remove their skype from the posts

 

If you could see previous edits, staff could have added fake vouches to the ban evader's ban.

Another reason why this should be added. ^^

 

I can see it being a feasible option for Staff, but only for YOUR OWN posts, as regular users. It'd be a handy add-on, but i'd doubt it'd get much use from non-staff.

I think it was denied because of database bloat concerns (At least that's what someone above said)

I honestly don't know how the database would get bloated by adding this feature to ONLY thread authors or Sythe Staff.
