Give people who have their MSN/Sythe account hacked a TWC.

It seems logical, shouldn't someone who can't maintain the integrity of their account be branded with a trade with caution. They are obviously someone who doesn't take adequate precautions to prevent the potential scamming of other users through abuse of their account.

Most of these account hackings aren't "hacking" or cracking, they are simply victims to social engineering or neglect of personal details. People should know by now that security is only as strong as their weakest link. Whether this be weakness in recovery questions or lack of anti-virus software/negligence in software downloads, it is in most cases preventable. I would like to think that most of you are more e-Smart than Sarah Palin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarah_Palin_email_hack).

Not trying to single out staff, although this has become a hot button debate as of late, but in most instances where a person of high clearance has their access compromised, they are terminated.

I think this TWC policy should stand for both normal users and staff, but of course not be retroactive.

Edit:
TWC's can always be removed at Admin's discretion.

I would like to hear your opinions/critique/amendments to this.

No support. It is very easy to recover MSN's if the person who created it used legit info. My most recent MSN is no longer in my control because of this. TwC is used for other purposes than to show someone who gets hacked a lot.

I agree to a certain extent, although the punishment of having to pay back anyone scammed is quite substantial in itself.

Chris: One shouldn't use real info when creating an MSN account for sythe purposes. Why not use fake details, write them down and store the paper in a key safe/ secure place.

Wouldn't it be intelligent, knowing this, to not set SECRET QUESTIONS as something that might be EASILY GUESSED with social engineering?

Wouldn't someone be a bigger risk to trade with if they have a habit of having their accounts get compromised?

I really don't think this is necessary, TWC are not going to be given out because the persons account has been hacked, their account will be banned until they are under control of it.

You don't know how the MSN recovery system works do you?

And yes surround sound I do use fake details but I spaced out on my last one and used real details.

What if you made your email before the whole reverting thing was discovered/leaked...?

Surely nothing like the method Sarah Palin's "hacker" used. (the one that I linked to) Is there an eye roll emote?

Like before Secret Questions were supposed to be something that other people could obtain the answers to/social engineer out of you?

If you feel that your security is not up to par, whether it be a password or whatever the weakest link in your chain may be, fix it or make a new e-mail account that is up to par.

Edit: If you feel like your MSN could be potentially reverted, do something about it.

I think a 1 week TWC after the victim cleaned out his or her computer is acceptable, just to warn members that you were recently hacked and to make sure that they ask for a PM before they trade with you. Then again Ive never been msn "reverted", so what do I know?

I don't see this as a punishment, but as a way to keep you and your customers safe.

This is fair. A TWC for this reason does not need to be permanent. If it was a recurring problem though, permanent actions should be considered.

But a TwC on these forums currently IS a punishment. They would have to make two different TwC's for this. Still no support.

Why shouldn't this be a punishment?

It has always been Sythe.org's stance that your account is your responsibility. I don't know how many times I've seen that in dispute answers. Isn't that why people still have to pay back the scammed when their e-mails are hacked?

I mean, either your account is your responsibility or it isn't.

Yes so if Finn's MSN is hacked should you trade FINN with caution? No probably not. Should you trade his MSN with caution? yes. But shouldn't you always trade them with caution by requesting PM's etc.?

Rather you support it or not it doesn't really matter. It can be looked at as a punishment, but I see it as a security purpose to protect other members from getting scammed. Not everyone with a TWC was given it as punishment, some have requested it, why? No idea.

I think if Finn's MSN was hacked it could be quite devastating. Has Finn's MSN ever been hacked? I can't recall a time that it has, but my stay here hasn't been that extensive. If it hasn't I'm sure there is an obvious reason it hasn't (taking precautions), as I'm sure people have probably tried to obtain his MSN in the past.

This idea is completely ludacris. Too many msn's are "hacked" (not hacked but you get the point")

Hell we'd have so many TWC's running around it would be ridiculous. And it doesn't take a week to get your pc straightened out either.

Brandon hacked his MSN like a week or two ago I think (atleast brandon claimed he did)

This.

If any of my MSNs are ever frozen, there is no way I can recover it, because all info on is fake. No one can revert it either though ; )

What does requesting a PM have to with whether your pc was cleaned out or not?

Once you've been hacked and recovered what the hell does it matter 2 days later?

Requesting a PM when trading should be almost automatic, msn BS going on or not.

Carelessness has nothing to do with trust. The TwC is there to show that the staff does not trust someone.
