What are you views on Corporal Punishment?
Do you think it should be brought back? Why?
After some replies, I shall put forth my opinion.

imo it shouldn't be brought back what would that make us?

were no better then the person receiving it if we bring it back hitting a person because of one simple mistake doesn't seem right,

Ha, Kids nowadays walk around school with their pants at their knees thinking it is somewhat cool. If a teacher tells them to move, they will stand there. If the teacher puts his/her hand on their shoulder, they will claim "Assault" in an attempt to get the teacher fired. They disrespect the teachers in front of their faces and they can't do ANYTHING about it. They believe that drug dealing is the way of life and that balling with your pants half down is great. These are just some things that SOME of today's school youth get up to.

yeh but not all schools/ kids in them do those things coming from a catholic school we were told to respect our teachers and back chatting isn't a issue at ours instant boom afternoon you stay back.

or clean up the whole playground :L which would take hours..

That's your school. Many others just let the kids get away with it, or "Suspend" them for 2 days. Which in many peoples case is actually not a bad thing.. 2 Days of school for a behavioural problematic child is usually great.

I think it would help but corporal punishment just wouldn't work now. Everything is so PC and the person who sends them to death is just as bad as the murderer.

I voted no... yeah kids may do this but its not a big deal and schools know how to deal with it. These kind of things will always happen.

I voted yes. I think it should be for only premeditated murder. As it is in the States.

I respect your opinion, but I think that it will eventually get worse because it has since Corporal Punishment was eradicated and it's already in a state.

Most kids usually grow out of that stage. I myself was one of those kids. I got to do a full year extra of high school because of it, I can't get a job, I have a youth criminal record (it will get erased when i'm 18) and a lot of decent people don't like me. Now I'm different, I gain knowledge daily, I'm going to do my work in school and look for a bright future. My point is, you can't critisize this type of youth this way because people grow up at different stages in their lives. I understand where you're coming from, but just look at it this way, you will most likely be more successful in the end, the teachers know this, the principals know this, and smart kids know this. The only kids that complain are the nerdy emo kids that can't stand up for themselves and realize that high school is nothing compared to the future.
Also, I voted no.

Which just shows, A Youth Criminal Record is nothing to be proud of, whether it is erased or not, they will still have your prints on databases. In arguments when I was at school, I'd say "atleast I'll get a job" and they'll be like "I'll deal drugs, that's better money and you get respect." This angers me.

i dont think it should be brought back, just because of the waste of money, the electricty time and costs of lawyers is much more than it would be to just say, prison- life, nao!

And this has all been researched, not taken from a misconceived stereotype?

Bringing back corporal punishment would not be in the interest of governments worldwide, the impact it would have on the students would definately define what kind of adult they grow into. If a student was beaten as a child, surely this would encourage, if not influence them into beating their own children?

Most kids grow out of it, trust me. Unless they actually live in troubled areas and that is all that they see. But if they live in the suburbs and see that everyone is successful and that he's headed into the wrong path, they'll realize ecentually, some sooner than later.

Younger generation children are going with a sense of invulnerability, they can get away with everything as most parents are powerless to hit them to discipline them. Teachers are insulted/viewed as a joke. Corporal punishment from a fairly young age I believe will induce discipline in children.

I voted no. This should not be brought back and the psychological and pjysical issues it causes are not worth the trouble.

As of now, I pretty much believe that corporeal punishment should only be practiced in quite extreme situations; that is, when it can be firmly established that such a person should not have the right to life.

Why is hitting children viewed as the only way to discipline? A stern talking to (or yelling) and taking things away sends the message across much more than damaging our youth through violence. Especially with all the violence on TV and in video games, do we really want to deal out the violence ourselves?

Teachers are insulted/viewed as a joke.

Not the slightest bit true. Teachers that yell too much or have no idea how to control a class are viewed as a joke because they aren't good teachers!

If a student insults a teacher, he/she is sent to the principals office. This results in a warning, or if the action continues, a detention. People will argue detentions don't mean anything, or they aren't harsh punishment. But once a student receives a detention, the burden of disciplining the child relies on the parent(s) of said individual. Is hitting a kid over a detention right? No. A stern talking to and a display of disappointment on the parents part should be enough.

Corporal punishment from a fairly young age I believe will induce discipline in children.

See above.

What are you views on Corporal Punishment?

Well, i think it is fair. Everyone that says "Oh it'll make us just as bad as them." Those people obviously never had anyone close to them murdered. (I haven't either, just saying) Eye for an Eye is fair too me.

Do you think it should be brought back? Why?

Yes i think it should be brought back. If a guy kills 10 people, he'll get 30 years in jail...Why waste food and resources on shit? People that kill others should be killed. After 30 years (20 for good behavior) the person will just go out and kill again. The electric chair would take care of this problem.
