I have had to write a couple papers in my junior lit class so far, and each I have gone too in depth and by the 4/5th page I knew I was screwed because I would go over. Also what pisses me off is that we HAVE to double space it and write in 12 font. I mean let me just leave it single spaced and size 8 font with 7 pages.

I also seem to do this in our standardized state tests a lot in writing and then have to go back and erase some of my best made points just because its too long and I don't have enough time to rewrite.

You shouldn't be complaining, I know you contain enough intelligence in your cranium that you can easily write a whole book on philosophy. To me it seems that you just do not care much for philosophy therefore just not wanting to put the effort into making it a great paper.

I love philosophy.

I would like to get the point across with the least amount of work - in this case, writing a page or less. I do not appreciate my professor's orders to go beyond what is absolutely necessary.
 
Why wouldn't it make sense for an English teacher to give you a page minimum. The more you write generally the better of a writer you become. It's likely you won't learn as much writing one page compared to seven. Teaching you is the job of the teacher. I don't see how this is unreasonable.

You love philosophy and you know a lot about it. You write about philosophy for a hobby now you just have to do it for real.

I prefer to judge a paper on its content, not number of pages.

Honestly this always happen to me yet what i do is just make up a whole bunch of bullshit to make it look long yet get to the facts and points :P
