Buyable Collateral

My suggestion is as follows;

Users are given the ability to buy collateral. This is DISPLAYED somewhere on the users profile. This collateral is held by a moderator+ member and is only removed if the player with collateral scams (used to pay back victim), or if the user quits from Sythe as a whole.

Any additional funds will be donated to Sythe.

 

What would stop said user from asking the collateral back right before scam quitting?

Im also assuming u want somesort of rank to display X collateral which sounds like a massive hassle to implement not to mention the mod/admin work involved, though I like the idea

 

If you don't trust the person you are trading don't trade with them.

But, I don't think it's that bad. So I'm supporting this suggestion.

Seems like a lot of work and would be a massive site change. Everyone with a product/service would basically be required to buy Collateral in order to keep up with competition. It would be good for Sythe (as people who get scammed will get some money back insurance policy, and sythe will profit/keep more members around). Also we would see less scams.

 

Don't think it's much more than graphical to add it.

There would need to be a grace period over a certain portion of time before the money is actually sent back to ensure you didn't scam in that time.

They did have a rank for SVU at one time. It could be similar.

 

I think legally Sythe would have to have some sort of license to hold and guarantee funds. I also don't think this is practical, Sythe isn't an insurance company. If you don't trust who you're trading with, don't trade with them.

 

Pretty sure that's incorrect, but I'm sure staff will verify one way or the other!

 

This was discussed by the dev teams and I believe what @c0ngs said was an issue, even if there is a grace period, people can wait it out and the day before they scamquit or something.

 

What about nonrefundable options? Still think they'd get a decent amount of users taking advantage of collateral.

 

Yea it would either have to be done via bond holder and somewhere in UC. We discussed it being openable with SG so vaders can't automatically open one and scam. This a @Sythe question though if he wants to do this.
