Do you then distinguish between what rights normal individuals receive, since each may behave rationally to different degrees?

Rationality is a flaky concept if you don't define it. What is rationality? Do humans behave rationally?

Generally, no. If the ability to reason grants rights, then all rational individuals, regardless of their level of rationality, receive rights.

Rationality/reason is the ability to process information, think in the abstract, conceive of basic ideas (yesterday/tomorrow), be creative, or otherwise use one's mind to survive.

Time is a property of the universe. It is not invented by humans.

Yesterday and tomorrow are references to a specific amount of time in the past/future. Time exists in the universe. Time is not created by man.

Time wasn't created by man itself, but man figured out how to solve and read time.

    Meet your Meat.

Without some animal (in the least) by-product, isn't it impossible to receive all elements needed to survive? There are some nutrients and amino proteins that are impossible for organic foods to provide, at least in the right amounts and safely / cost effectively.

If some wildlife / animals weren't 'slaughtered', there would be fierce overpopulation, and a dramatic decrease in resources available to our race. Saying animals shouldn't be used as fodder in one way says that we shouldn't be the dominant species and therefore should find an answer to our own overpopulation.

My grandmother owns a cattle farm, and most of what the things they say, don't apply to her farm. The cows have somewhat large plains to roam, and are not crowded whatsoever.

Do we eat bugs? No. This doesn't compare with the animals that go into your body.

Some people actually do eat bugs as a delicacy.
And you are also saying if we don't eat it it's ok to kill it?

No I'm not, some people have a hatred towards bugs, or a phobia. So, the ending result is death to the bug. Not just killing a creature, then just leaving it there to rot.

    Meet your Meat.

My mom was killed by a cow, I am now scared of cows and I hate them because they killed my mother. My revenge would be to slaughter a considerably high amount of cows and sell them to make a huge profit.

So you're saying, if you have a phobia or hatred towards a creature, it is okay to kill/slaughter them?

well.. seeing as if you live in africa, you eat bugs

because your not GRATEFUL enough to have meat.(most of the time)

so if you think this is cruelwhich it isnt, this only happens in worst case scenarios..most slaughter houses are much more civilized.then i want you to NEVER squash a bug, spider, mosquito,or fly.

(sarcasm)if you do ill make a new organization and it will show cruelty to the bugs everyone squishes.(/sarcasm)

If humans are hardly ever treated fairly, why should animals conditions differ?

I doubt you can really back that up as the middle-class computer-owning kid/teenager/adult you are.

It's really not about being fair, we dominate them, we don't have to give them luxury meals. We can consume them, kill them, breed them to kill... the question is whether we have to do THAT and sadistically make them suffer at the same time.
