tbh why does it bother you whether your friends think their good at guitar or not. personally if i played guitar and my friends showed intrest i would do what i could to help them get good at guitar instead of get annoyed because they thought they were good. guitar hero owns. just my opinion

I love the game, but it is in fact overrated. I can play guitar decently, and i'm great at guitar hero (beaten GH2 and Rock band on expert, close to beating GH3), but I can also say that some songs on guitar hero are actually harder than they are on guitar hero. Like Blitzkrieg Bop by The Ramones on Rock Band, on real guitar its 3 simple powerchords and a simple rhythm, but they throw in a whole bunch of shit onto it in Rock Band (they do that alot, just using this song as an example). What I like about the Guitar Hero games and Rock Band is that it introduces you to alot of bands and songs that you may not have heard before. I was introduced to Rage Against the Machine with guitar hero 2, and now they're one of my favourite bands. But I do think that people who are good at guitar hero and think they're all that on the guitar should take lessons before they boast.

You are a complete tard-ass. If your friends play guitar hero and it inspired them to take up the real guitar why not teach them instead of runing your mouth about how good you are. you are prolly some kid who thinks songs like crazy train and stupid songs like that are hard to play. because if you played guitar for any length of time you wouldn't be such a dick to your friends wanting to learn. Although kids do get cocky about guitar hero who cares? it's a game and as for playing them guitar hero won't help you with real guitar but real guitar will help you with guitar hero when I started playing guitar hero after 2 songs of getting use to the buttons I could already play hard and a few expert songs and now I can beat any of them.

Honestly I believe guitar hero needs to be more challenging and if you even attempt to compare real guitar to guitar hero you should prolly be punched for trying.

    P.S. ibanez is overrated

I really love playing the game, but sometimes people take it to far. For example when people buy those holders for their guitar, I think takes it over the top. But I think you guys get my point.

Daily, could you play "One" or "Knights of Cydonia" on expert. I wanna see if you can play one of those, I haven't seen someone able to beat either, I'd be highly impressed. I'm not too bad, I can barely pass "One" and "Knights of Cydonia" on hard. I'm decent on expert also, I can beat "My Name is Jonas", that's a pretty legit song, Weezer puts out some good shit.

not really it takes about a year to learn guitar then the rest is just getting more agile at playing. in 5 years he should be able to play just about anything if he practices a bit I have been playing for about 11 - 12 years now and i can play anything I have came across fairly easily so far and have been able to for a few years now with 5 years of practice he can do anything except some of the trick stuff most likely.

Honestly are you kidding me? you think that because you can beat a easy expert song you deserve that tittle... lol would love to destroy you on xbox live if you have it.

Ruining true guitarists, or creating new ones? I don't mind the game. I'm no good at it, but, meh. I'm decent at actual guitar, though.

Actually I started playing the game called Guitar Hero, and then I found it was amazing and pleaded my mom to buy a real guitar, its actually very easy to learn guitar, you just need to know the chords and need some strong fingers and fast reflexes and you can actually play lots of really nice songs

    Guitar for life!~

Not very easy. Sure after general practice you can generally play anything put in front of you, but when you go to make your own stuff you sound like an apprentice copying from a great master. Technique is involved, and it isn't easy to develop.

My Dean Razorback crushes those stupid plastic guitars any day.
Playing arpeggios requires more skill than pressing 5 buttons in completely random patterns.

Yeah a few of my friends who have been playing the guitar for years really hate the game because they think it butchers the songs and playing on the guitar hero guitar in no way prepares you for a REAL guitar.

By the way Deadzone, Ibanez creates some fine guitars. Just because they use custom hardware like Wizard necks and Edge bridges doesn't mean they're overrated, they have great tone and can be used for any modern genres.
Not saying they're my favorite, but it's trite to say they're overrated.
