What makes you a "man?"

Today, a man is portrayed as a macho, tough, and emotionally strong individual.

Do those things actually make you a man? In my opinion no. For me there are two ends of the spectrum at where you are not a man.

Point A: These are the homosexuals, male women supremacists, etc..

Point C: These are the "macho" individuals. Usually portrayed in the media as men. The "gangsters," "tough guys," etc...

Point B: This is where I believe the real men lie. The down to earth, hard working, family supporting males.

What do you think makes a person a "man?"

Notice the quotation marks. I say man as in the lifestyles led by males in society today. Not what literally makes them a male.

Having a penis makes you a man.

But, what traits make you viewed as a man in society. You keep dodging this question because you have this need to be right about something that has nothing to do with the original question.

i think. to be a man.you must grown out of puberty, you got heaps of hairs down there. you shave regularly, and you smoke heaps. and drink heaps too. and have a hard working wife. that does all the work. and you sit in front of your tv with your white tank top on with your can of beer and bag of potato chips in front of the tv being a couch potato.

that, is what i think, makes you a man. and a father.

 

Being "mature" doesnt really make you a "man" as shakaka stressed, women can be mature and they aren't men.
Being a man, in many cases mean different things, one, the average "dumb blond" think men are only sense creatures and have dicks and would rather use the instrution booklet to clean rather than reading.


My defenition:
To be able to be a man, you must be able to stand up for your believe, not just go with the "flow". See what you want in life and not just grasp it but take hold of it.

Different Culture.
I Only no this because i grew up there it never happened to me.
In many Afrikan (Yes that is how it is truly spelt, in my language) tribes it is believed that you become a man when after you hit puberty, the chief takes you and chops off your fore skin ( of the penis ) and magicaly you are a man. ( on average 14 teens die of this a year, due to bleeding )

I'm 20 going on 21. I believe what makes a man a "man" is being able to support your family and being able to admit that you are not perfect. I have a son who is soon to turn 1. A wife, and it gets hard sometimes, but I look at the two of them and know I will never give up. Because I want to be able to provide for them better than my "father" ever did for me.
