666 - number of devil?

Its in the bible that its the devils number... Does it really matter if it is or isn't?
A point that Christians and Atheists can agree upon. XD
I find no reason to investigate.
Actually, it does not state in the Bible that 666 is the number of the devil. It states that six hundred and sixty and six is the number of the beast.
:O very interesting, never heard of this. Only heard of it two days ago when I was trying to be a big shot in class saying that I would order a pizza at school and pick it up at school 
but yeah.. I pulled out my fone and I call the pizza people up and there like we don't deliver to schools. So one of my mates go call 666 and evidently enough it goes "Optus advises the number you have called is either disconnected or unavailable". So its either that the devil got his phone disconnected because he can't pay for it or his just away on a trip

The sign of the beast. Also the beast is also mentioned in revelations as combining with the Serpent. So it might be a form of evil on the Earth that will give the "devil" power.

Actually, no. The Bible does not say 666 is the devil's number. It says it's the number of 'the beast'. The 'beast' is not the devil.

Regardless of whether you believe or not-
It is of no significance.
Over the ages the number 666 has become its own superstition apart from the Bible. Many different cults have adopted it. Humans, being naturally superstitious, have developed a fear (which also commonly manifests itself as personal obsession) of the number and mystified it.
Like I said- regardless of whether you believe the Bible or not, the number 666 is still a number, and nothing more, until that day comes.
I don't think it makes any point nor does it provide further discussion material to sit there at your computer and say: "I don't believe."
Many of you Atheists pride yourselves on your logic- and so I would like to hear more of it. Not just the same ignorant: "I'm not listening!"
It would be the same as if every Atheist argument was met with a Christian saying: "lalala- God told me you're wrong."

Also i don't know too much about it since i have never read past the first page of the bible. I tried to but it was all "then god made a bird, then he made a tree, then he made yet another tree, he was exceptionally greedy and made 1 more!" then it was all "adam begot eve who begot john who begot bill who begot harry who begot moses who begot fred".
We we all probably know that 666 is the number of the devil, or so it seems. The real question is, is there anything cursed or bad about that number? If you're asking that, no I don't believe anything's really wrong with that. I try to stay away from it anyway.

I, personally, believe that 666 IS the number of the Devil, and or the "Beast" as you guys seem to put it. Just like 420 is the pothead number. Everything has a number.
Yeah, it does say that, but in some aspects is the "beast" man or the devil?

I'm sure that by the beast they probably meant the devil but we're in no position to assume anything after our discussion about this whole jesus/god/bible business.
