OSRS Updates

You guys see the runefest lineup? Lol it's been an abysmal few weeks for RS3 while OSRS dominates RF yet again with superior announcements. The Gowers were also quoted as saying that they prefer OSRS to RS3 lol rip.

OSRS Getting-

Dragon Slayer 2 which will result in a dragon boss / rune+addy dragons.
Mage Arena 2
Revenant Cave similar to the original.
Farming Timers much to the chagrin of the Rs3 community (they've wanted it for 2 + yrs lul)
Raids 2

What do you think? I'm pretty hyped, haven't really been playing either version lately but this is a very nice lineup of content. It amazes me how with a fraction of the dev team that OSRS consistently shits on its RS3 counterpart. And I play Rs3 sometimes too so I'm not trying to just mindlessly bash it. But 2017 came up spades for OSRS while it came up disastrous for Rs3.

But we have to hope Rs3 does not fully die because then Jagex will poison OSRS with microtransactions and that'll be the end of the fun.

 

Looks good tbh, havent played RS for quite some time but this might bring me back to try the new stuff out.

Problem is, with these type of updates they hype them up soo much. By the time it comes to releasing them itll be dead content everyone hates.

Speculation with these updates fingers crossed....

 

Lol you'll always have people say something is dead content if they don't like it though. People did that with the original Raids which I thought were really good. It's all subjective at the end of the day. It's better than getting promised dozens of things and then getting not even half. Which is RS3's problem.

I think the scope of these updates guarantees at least 2-3 pieces of content that people enjoy. People won't enjoy all of them but I'd be surprised if they enjoyed none of them. Personally I know I will likely enjoy the Rev caves, Raids 2 and Dragon Slayer 2. Mage Arena was awesome back in the day, so a sequel has promise.

Rev Caves are pre-eoc content not really RS3. The game has a lot of 2010-2011 content which is a good thing, that's when RS was at its peak in my opinion.

Rune/Addy drags were pretty good content in RS3, so I don't see too much fuss adding them to OS as well. A lot of content in RS3 is good actually, many just don't like the aesthetic or EoC.

 

Id just prefer different content, i didn't even want d claws or anything like that but we keep getting repeat content from pre eoc

 

I don't disagree with having brand new content, but at least the Rune/Addy dragons are just an appendage of new content. I'm sure for fans of lore and such Dragon Slayer 2 will explain their appearance. There's a brand new dragon boss coming with it too.

Raids 2 and Mage Arena 2 are all brand new content.

Bounty Hunter updates are pretty interesting too.

 

Looks like a lot of good content is coming. Glad they're doing something with Meiyerditch, I was always hoping that they would expand/update the area

 

That and Mage Arena 2 are really exciting. I hope Mage Arena 2 is as high stakes and scary as it was doing the original Mage Arena back in the day. Especially when you had to learn the spell by casting it and avoiding pkers.

 

Hopefully some of these things will bring me back to playing. Got a pretty beastly maxed account, just ended up getting bored of the game.

 

Ready for dragon slayer II

 

After reading the Dragon Slayer II Dev Blog it seems they're attempting to release way too much content at once.

I will probably be voting no to a lot of it

 

I like some of the ideas, not really keen on such a huge influx of updates, it's 2007 runescape after all, but I can say that I'm most hyped about farming updates!

 

Do you guys think these changes will bring in new players, or are they just trying to retain their existing playerbase?

 

Retain existing player base. OSRS Mobile will bring in a decent amount of f2p, but they'll most likely tire out.

 

I was the same way for a long time honestly but I've kind of just accepted the lions share of the community wants new content. I'm not too fussed about it anymore.

Great question, I think the best hope at getting new players is like Badger said. Mobile.

RS3 is really struggling to get new players, which is scary cuz I don't want the MTX poison to come to OSRS.

 

Hell yeah, that's impressive man. I was going for max and just hit a wall. It's probably the only outstanding goal I have left in any form of Runescape. Would be a hell of an accomplishment to do it. I'd have to get 99 RC again though, I wanted to keep it untrimmed on my other account.

I got 99 Slayer on it at least. One of the slowest 99's done. But Idk if I can stomach agility/hunter. I hate them so much.
