[2018] Why is there no effort from bot developers?

    I'm confused as to why bot developers don't strive to create a bot that could actually stand out from the crowd, something that could have a big impact on the botting community just like rsbots.net, and rsbuddy did. Both Owners of those websites were self-made millionaires! James from RsBuddy even writes it in his bio;

"James has been a successful entrepreneur and computer scientist from a young age, making his first million dollars aged 17 with his AI software for players of the MMORPG RuneScape"

Why were still utilising the same technology that powerbot had back in 2010 is beyond me?

Is there just a lack of interest in this area now, or perhaps its money driven let's face it injection bots are a lot easier and quicker to develop? I'd really like to hear your thoughts on this.

"If bot developers actually tried Jagex could find themselves in an arms race"
James ~ RsBuddy late 2017 (after he left Jagex)

"Jagex is unable to detect if I'm playing or my sister is playing they have no physical evidence of who/what is creating an input. RsBotting is completely possible."
    ~ Eric Snellmen 2009

Injection bots being easy to develop; apposed to what?

apposed to any revolution attempt to the botting movement?

As soon as you load a botting client you're already doing something that a normal "legit" player wouldn't do. Take for instance PokemonGo players used GPS Spoofers, they detected this by viewing what other apps you had installed on you're the device.

"Apple expanding user privacy will prevent iOS apps from seeing other installed apps"

I know there has always been a debate regarding Jagex's ability to detect a client hence the new mirror mode by TriBot. Who knows what handshaking goes on between clients such as osbuddy and the game servers to validate game connections.

It's the same with using model id's players can't view model id's why is this still the most popular method to detect objects.

Machine learning and artificial intelligence are already being used in gaming & esports. Clients such as Runelite (arguably an approved client) already overlay huge green click boxes for skills. The ability to recognise shapes, objects, colours either by spectating gameplay sessions as RiD strives to do or by other means. Without playing the game using an unknown third party client.

    agreed....

But you forget this you stated machine learning is being used in e-sports you gotta remeber this machine learning is also being used by jagex to ban bots.....big money over small money jagex wins everytime vs bot developers

Yes, Jagex knows exactly - the same way you described the PokemonGo' case - what (popular) botting client user is using. They said it themselves on some podcast -- already few years back. Pretty sure it's not a bluff. The core of these clients have pretty much stayed the same as well, all stagnated shit. But they make nice money :)
That's why suiciding has become the most popular way of botting. It's the matter of time until they get banned. My point: as long as injection is used - it's detectable. Through a mirror or not, injection is still taken place. Sure, less bannable, maybe. I've heard both sides.

Custom Runescape clients (not botting clients) are actually a gateway for coders (Jagex "whitelists" some clients) to use it as a middle-man to inject custom code into, say osbuddy for example; So you are not directly associated with any rs botting client, decreasing your bans by a WHOLE lot. Anyways, off topic here.

Honestly, no point in making anything revolutionary. The game is dieing. People scrape whatever there is left to scrape. Gp over the years has lost it's value by a whole bunch as well. People with AI developing knowledge can make tons of more money on other games. You'd really have to be a true RS fanatic from early 2000's to start developing something new here.

    My mid-night rant.

    Peace!

Thanks for your input @Fast Coins I think you're absolutely right player botting (main botting) is completely dead.

The only bots running are gold farmers who aren't interested in other methods. Injection bots are going to run correctly without messing up for the most part. You can have complex scripts that can solve tasks that object-oriented bots would have a huge issue trying to resolve.

I don't agree however that rs is dying.

Most of the injectionbots are pretty much just the same copies of an open source variation with slight modifications to spice things up, which seems kind of funny considering they've all actually dumped any reason of injection superiority and dumbed themselves down to the point where there would be no difference in power or usability between an injection bot and a decent memory/graphical API bot.

Hell, even then the memory or openGL bots would probably be better considering they wouldn't leave any sort of imprint on the client itself and thus being bulletproof in terms of safety as long as they weren't coded by a complete dummy.

Where is the proof for that? The game is not dying, its MUCH more active than it was several years ago if you'd just look at the amount of players online..?

Why should there be any effort from developers? Honestly a developer can earn a nice chunk of change running the operation themselves or in a small group of trusted people.

This is the most outrageous comment on the thread so far! You can't simply buy a premium script at Tribot and start botting. Not like you used to be able to with Rsbots.net or RsBuddy... Main botting is completely dead Jagex are winning the war on that front and people don't want to risk their accounts.

I'm sure it's completely possible to bot one of the quickest skills in the game, but main botting as a whole is dead, and it's certainly not because of a lack of uneducated people.

Money? Fame? Education? Challenge? Look at Jacmob, advanced his education self-made millionaire now headhunting the top talent from Jagex for his own games company. Why wouldn't young developers want any of these things?

If the bot devs would code a bot to make mistakes like constant random misclicks, i bet it would be a lot harder to catch bots.
Because bots always click in the same spot or generally the same spot for hours, if you make it more human like how would they detect it.

[2018] Why is there no effort from bot developers?

The userbase for botters isn't there anymore because no one has been able to come up with scripts that are hard to detect. It's not like 2010 when pretty much everyone botted and bans were somewhat rare. People would spend money on bots to make them money as well, since Free trade wasn't out yet.

I botted a lot in 2010, people had massive gold farms, in the numbers of 100s of bots running simultaneously. Most of these guys are out of the game for a reason, Jagex has been getting pretty good at catching botters. I tried botting for a few hours 2ish years ago and it got temped pretty quick. A year or 2 before that, a friend botted rc on my account, claimed he was using a good script and wouldn't get banned. It got temped. I didn't care, I didn't play. He believed his script so much he did it again and it got permed.

RobotzInDisguise was supposed to do exactly what you want. They had very promising scripts when rsbots was around, it was more expensive but significantly safer. They promised to make a comeback for years and kept saying soon, but I'm guessing they never managed to make anything as good as they previously had.

We are also at a point where a lot of people already have good accounts without botting, that wouldn't risk their accounts to bot anymore. I'm one of them.
