200 USD Name Changes.

Am I the only person who thinks it's ridiculous you have to had donated 200 USD to change your name? I chose my name when I was 13,
This is the first I've requested it. I understand frequent name changes but you can't be troubled to change one once every 12 years unless your paid 200 dollars for something you can do simply.

I'm outraged at the greed.

Imagine what would happen if name changes were free. Plus you've already donated $50, another $150 and you're there.

Just place a DNT on the account you currently have. Then create a new one. Name changed.

You only need to be a $5 donor to get your name changed. You need to be a $200 donor only if you want a significant name change.

Given that your name change was denied 15 minutes before you posted this thread, I'm willing to bet you just didn't read the name change requirements sticky...

 

It is what it is , I personally think if your account is 5 years or older should have maybe got one free name change.

As someone previously mentioned, can you imagine if name changes were free? Hell, I don't think major name changes should be allowed at all. It's hard enough to track the limited pool of folks who are $200+ donators that change their names multiple times throughout the years.

It would be interesting to see if you donated say $50+ you get 1 name change after 5 years, $100+ after 3 years, $200+ every year. Just my two cents, I am just a nooby $5 donor lol.

 

I don't want to lose the reputation and creation date of my current account, but I haven't gone by Godshero0 anywhere but here. Most other forums offer 1 name change for 5-20 USD. 200 just seems way to high.

 

I'd love to pay $5-$20 for a name change but this is a different type of forum. Scammers come here often. It's so easy to pay for a name change and then people have a really hard time keeping track of who was who. Unless it would be like it is now where you pay then request it, I guess I could see that working but it's just unnecessary work at that point. I like the idea of being stuck with a name unless you pay nicely. If you've got a stable business built here, a $200 donation really is not that much in the grand scheme of things.

It's not as is you have to outright donate $200 right away. You can easily just donate $10, $20, or whatever every so often and eventually have it. Plus, $100 donators can have minor name changes for less, so there's that.

 

Owner has to make money it’s seemingly a good way of incentivising donations for “higher” tier users who want the change. Don’t worry your current name won’t adversely affect your business.....

 

No support, there is more that goes into having the chance to change your name on here.

Name changes shouldn't be allowed at all. In your case maybe after 5 years you should be entitled to a free change but only if you are not active in the market.
