Did I say data is racist, or imply so in any way? It's how you present it that gives off racial connotations.

Xier0 flaunted the idea that all races are not the same (I agree), then referenced a graphic that correlates intelligence specific to each race suggesting inferiority. The thing is, no numbers are shown, it was recorded in 2003, and it doesn't appear to have been done on a large scale worthy of having strong convictions about a particular group.

Let's look up the definition of racism one more time because why not.

Racism - the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.

Hmmm....

SAT requires prep, the best prep requires tutotrs, the best tutors require money.

It's correlation, not causation.

 

I think anyone of privilege has to unlearn certain racist behaviour or thoughts. It's pretty common for people to unconciously make assumptions or have a "them and us" mentality with regards to races, religions, even sports teams and so on.

 

All you have done is make excuses for how all the data posted is not sufficient because of the time period, because of small concessions like a handful of exonerated criminals, and income being a factor of crime & SAT scores.

All of this has already been addressed and COMPLETELY debunked because black test scores MUCH lower, black violent crime rates are MUCH higher, even when accounting for income and these outliers.

The black-white-asian test scores do not apply to just the SAT, which you seem to rip on terribly, but also to IQ.

The data isn't sufficient to have the convictions you're having about a particular race. Sigh.. America is a country, by which holds only 13% of blacks. The SAT is a standardized test widely used for college admissions in the United States. Do you know what this means? It's specific to the US.

The graphic doesn't show the number of test takers. This is very important to note. Why? Because averages are relevant specific to the amount of test takers. If a small group of participants take a test, don't do too well, but the amount of participants is not shown, it undermines the legitimacy. The same applies to a large majority.

Whites of the same income as blacks score higher and commit less crimes. Income is not a variable, it is a control.

Achievement gap is already present before schooling, and schooling is not a significant factor with IQ, which blacks score 15 points lower on, on average, than whites. Education is NOT A FACTOR. Income is NOT A FACTOR. This is not LOCAL or CULTURAL, this is WORLDWIDE.

Perfect example for all races: When you decide to purchase a home and start a family, what area's do you look for? Middle class usually with in youre budget im guessing? Somewhere that has the lowest crime rate you can afford? Going to take a wild guess and assume education and school ratings play a crucial role. So how many of these general area's are considered black neighborhoods?

 

I'm not racist, no. Because of recent social justice movements however, I've actually began to see race. If a black person comes to work for instance, in my head I think "this person is black" instead of just "this is a person". It's not something that can be helped - for me, the social justice movement is doing the opposite of progression in terms of counteracting segregation (of course, the attention racial issues are receiving today is very very important). You've got things like all black schools these days, all black clubs at universities...I understand the concept of a safe space, but at the end of the day you're promoting segregation and differentiation between races. Because of that I have begun to see colour when I should not be seeing colour. Society has folded onto itself and different races have begun segregating themselves into these groups when we should all be working together toward a better world.

 

People are afraid of difference / change, hence racism, prejudice against subcultures etc.

I was born in Compton so yea, I was (ironically) one of the few black sheep being white in a predominantly black neighborhood. Obviously as I got older I came to notice some stereotypes, I still flinch if someone's who's colored that's a stranger moves too quickly towards me at night.

With that said friendships/relationships are irrespective of race (3 of my last 5 boyfriends were black)
