Change in donor dice thread rule

Currently the 3rd rule on the dice thread says:
• To accept a bet, you must quote the post you're accepting and post "I accept, X$" and roll. The other party should in turn quote them and roll.

I agree that you should quote the post to verify that this is what you are dicing for but there is a small problem.
Person A Posts: Dicing x 07 0-100. quote and roll
Person B: Quotes post and rolls dice
Person A: Quotes person B and rolls. <----- You have to quote their roll. So technically person A is rolling twice and has to go with the 2nd roll. I know this doesn't seem like a big deal, but that first roll could be a winning roll which could leave you with a losing 2nd roll.

Thread was created literally less than an hour ago dealing with the same exact thing and I have the same response. The point is to quote the wager to avoid confusion of who is dicing who, but you don't have to the dice. You can cut that part out, you just need confirmation that you are dicing the proper person. I never quoted anyone at all actually when I used to dice ¯\_(&#12484_/¯

 

While I've never been part of the dicing scene the thought that the quoted roll would be used instead of the actual rule seems absurd. Does this actually occur?

 

No what he means is that because some people are quoting another person's dice, in the quote the dice will roll again so you are effectively rolling twice. The common misconception is that if your actual roll was less than the roll in the quote, that if you hadn't quoted the dice then you would have rolled the higher number (which isn't true since it is random every time and you would have gotten a completely different roll).


Example:

rolling

Dice Roll: 76 of 100

I quoted your roll and it made another roll for me (but it doesn't count as my roll) and in some cases that quoted roll could be higher than my actual roll and people get mad because they think they would have won if they didn't quote the roll.

 

I think it's pretty straight forward that the roll inside the quote doesn't count as an actual roll, it's just quoting what the person posted.

This isn't an issue at all, the issue is people's stupidity as far as I'm concerned

 

I understand what hes saying, the only way this would effect a dicing person is if it was more probable to roll a higher number or lower number depending on your last roll.

EX. I roll a 20 then 21 then 89 because I rolled 2 low rolls in a row or vice verse.

 

never have i ever seen this become a problem. it's the first roll that counts. anyone trying to tell you otherwise is a sore loser.

person a: quote and roll
person b: *rolls a 43*
person a: 43 to beat, *rolls a 19*
person b wins

 

This is beyond stupid.

What's stopping people from using advanced mode and previewing their post to get a new roll? It doesn't even matter anyways because it's still random..

 

The roll in the quote doesn't count. Hope that clears it up!
