Depression

I know how you feel, I went through a bad breakup earlier this year. And I wouldn't wish the feeling on anyone; because it's horrible. Especially when this is your best friend and you feel as though they're leaving and moving on and nothing they said ever mattered or meant anything.

I know it's the last thing you'll want to hear or believe; but it does get better. I know this is cliché advice - but cliché advice is only cliché advice because it's true.

It starts out really bad, because a huge part of your life and time is now gone and you don't have anything to fill the gap with. So start filling the gap, take up new hobbies, go out and socialise, fall back on the rest of your friends, spend more time with family and so on.

Slowly but surely the hurt will become less and you can move on with your own life. Personally I found the hardest part to be when I started looking at their social media sites and watching them move on with their life and wondering how they could do that to me; when you break up you usually have the victim feeling in the situation; but remember on the other side is a person with feelings and needs and a whole entire different view of the world, and this is what they needed.

Sometimes things just don't work out, and I realised that as impossible as it seemed, it was always possible to slowly feel better about it and move on and be happy with someone else.

That's another large in part why I don't have social media. If she had created one I don't want to stumble upon it. But what people don't seem to understand it's not just another break up because she was my best friend for literally my entire life. I guess that's what I get for dating her though.

On a brighter note of the whole situation I have picked up working out a lot more it keeps my mind off of it. But I find that the worst time is when I am about to go to sleep. Any tips or tricks?

Yeah dude, nights are the worst time for me as well. I would just suggest keeping so busy during the day that you're too tired to think yourself in to depressive episodes at night. I try just to hit the sack and sleep right away.

I'd say most of the post are unhelpful... Life is harsh, and he needs to understand that it is OVER or he needs probably some kind of a medical treatment, if he can't get over for 5 whole fucking months...

Or you can always start drinking, helps with any depression, pain and suffering!

Now this post is helpful! ;)

5 months isn't a long time to get over something that meant a lot to you. Some suffer more than others. People mean more to some people than they maybe do to you; we're all different. You have to learn to sympathise with people's situations regardless of whether you'd react or deal with them differently. Too much hate and dismissing judgement in this world.

this was hard to read because i know where you're comming hard from and as hard as it is right now, time heals everything you might feel like shit for the next few weeks months or years, but you have to understand life moves on and you can do it with little baby steps bro it might seem impossible right now because your connection with her was unreal but steps is all you can take good luck bro

Sorry to hear that dude, it sucks to experience depression because it feels like you will never find a way out of it but hopefully you'll get over this.

L00l. Am immature. Back to topic dont hold it in, part of the help is expressing it to someone you love.
After reading that last line i typed it kinda is the back story of the part of the quote i bolded

I found her email address while looking through some old things I am debating if I should go ahead and email her or not because if it's rejection again even after a heart felt email if that will make the situation worse.

Roary nailed it on the head. Get out there and keep yourself busy. Trying new things and new experiences also lead to meeting new people, and you might just meet the one. Sitting around and twiddling thumbs is a downward spiral, and it's something i'm going through myself, albeit at my own hand.

So what are something you're doing to make the situation better?
