New Theme

That's kind of unfair actually. MoonGlare obviously but the time and effort into that.

That's exactly my problem with this sort of contest - lots of people will put effort into creating a theme, and only 1 theme will be used ultimately, leaving everyone else with no recognition or thanks for the long hours of work they put in.

Not helpful. Seriously, it doesn't have to be like this. It takes no effort just to say "nice job" to MoonGlare or anyone, for that matter. We chose the direction these forums take, we don't have to be dicks.

 

I'm not going to lie and say it looks nice when it clearly doesn't. We have a handful of talented website designers like Kinaesthic and a few others who don't come out much but would for a contest I'm sure. We did a contest similar before your time and it worked great for GFX designers to make a background and logo. Why would we settle on a bad theme from someone when we have many alternatives?

You don't have to, just don't be so dismissive of people's work, because the more dismissive we are, the less entrants/choices we will get.

 

who the fuck says we are being dismissive? if done we are granting them the chance to have their work displayed on sythe.org.


furthermore it could very well end up more then one theme is picked to stay, and we have multiple themes.


No one HAS to do it. if they want to put the hours into making one thats on them, they go into it knowing it may not be chosen. it's not being done to glorify themselves with "OMGEWD I MADE THIS PLEASE PRAISE AND THANK ME FOR MAKING THIS"


It's being done for the site to help better it.

you think after every job i do in the real world i go door to door knocking on peoples houses telling them " hey., i'm a welder for the boilers makers and we just help build a new powerplant, will you praise and thank me for my long hours working 6-10s sometimes 7-10s and tell me how good i am at my job and how thankful you are?

fuck no. people will do it because they take pride in their god damn work, and will relish in it knowing it will be seen by atleast a couple hundred people hopefully.

Back on topic: I really do agree that we need a new theme, but I don't believe that a contest is the way to find one. This is my last post on the subject, I promise.

 

Well thank goodness we live in the world we do today, were people try to come up with new ideas, and products without knowing if all their hard work will be excepted by the masses or even noticed.

Good thing its not the fairy tale world you live were you believe people shouldn't put effort into things unless they are going to get a divine army of people worshiping at their feet and giving praise for doing something.

How do you propose we get a new theme then? have one person make it?

Dial is suggesting excatly like what we did last time, those who wish to put in the effort to make one will have it put in a poll that we vote for.

Those who don't want to do it because they see it as unfair because their time and effort invested might not get a return on it don't have to do it. its for those that want to do it. infact this is about the fairest way i see it being done, is putting it to a vote.

Support. As i said before it's time for Sythe to make a change in design. This forum looks way too old. Just let forum users make more designs and add them to the drop down in the footer so people can try them.

Then after about a month make a poll where people can vote for a new standard design.

Sythe needs change to keep participating in the virtual goods market.
