I want to say a huge well done and thank you to the staff (namely Cosrob and FireZ (as usual), but the others too) who cleaned out all of the report a scammer section, and have so far continued to keep it clean in a timely manner. There are only 2 open reports in the section at the moment, and my report was dealt with by Cosrob within 20 minutes. Good job.

 

I'd like to praise Sin666 for unmatchable effort to change how Disputes, Reports and Feedback are dealt with, your work is unparallel to any i've ever seen.

 

I agree with this. That post was highly unprofessional of Finn, and if I would have bought the book and then saw that someone was going on a shopping spree I would be pissed. I don't think giving a sob story and guilt tripping this site is really earning; if the money is given out of charity and spent on something other than it's intended donation purposes it is a fraud. I find that people won't automatically jump to aggression and defensiveness if they have nothing to be defensive about, such as guilt or feelings of remorse.

 

I'd like to submit a formal complaint about JohnK.

I dislike the way he is handling the competitions here on Sythe.org

My first issue has to do with the Connect Four Tournament that he hosted. The 64 slots quickly filled up and even after, there were users still wanting to participate. In the first round, a few users were banned - therefore unable to compete. He chose to give their opponents first-round byes. If this were truly a community event, which is meant to bring members of Sythe closer together - why did he exclude members such as myself who were more than willing to take the spots of the aforementioned?

As you can see in that thread, I was one of the first entries into the contest. Unfortunately JohnK took it upon himself to once again exclude me from the community's festivities for some unknown reason, possibly because he has a bias against me. It is a freestyle competition, where we submit our art. I believe it's quite unfair that he chose to censor my speech and disallow me the opportunity to win with his reason being that my entry was a joke.

Weird Al Yankovic has created many covers of songs and parodies and satires. I would put my creation in the same category. Although it does not have the same theme or niche as most of the other entries do, I feel my piece of work deserves the same chance of winning this competition as the others do.

Other formal complaints:

I see that I am also not the only one who believed that MohtasaUnique got his promotion over other deserving users simply because he was friends with Finn. This user also seems to have it out for me and appears to slander me at any given opportunity as evidenced here: http://sythe.org/showpost.php?p=9719708

I was not begging for votes, but simply to be recognized as a legitimate entry into the contest - perhaps he misconstrued what I asked for.

Last but not least - When I was banned a few weeks ago due to an accrual of infractions, I appealed it with the belief that I could get the temporary ban lifted before the ban time expired. My legitimate appeal was not looked at and I was forced to serve my whole sentence which was undeserving. I understand that there are a lot of troll appeals which tend to waste the time of moderators in that section, but I notified the staff that I had submitted an appeal with the intention of returning to the Sythe community, yet it still remained un-looked at, which in turn, left me dissatisfied with the response time of the appeal committee.

That is all - other than that I do believe that the staff on this website are doing a fantastic job and I hope I don't get banned for telling the truth. Thank you.

 

Getting staff because he was friends with a certain staff member is invalid, All promotion polls are voted on by all globals, so a majority was needed to get him in, and trust me when I say that we dont always agree, he's an experienced staff member (been an admin on other sites and equivalent to a global here) and so far he's been doing an excellent job.

 

They should still be fixed.

HA! Oh god thanks for this laugh. Though you weren't asking for votes like I had originally thought you were, you were asking for support from me to supersede JohnK's own competition decisions. I do not have it OUT for anyone, I simply found it extremely hilarious that you were trying to butter up IRC people to support you, and attack JohnK for his decisions. Aside from laughing my ass off, I also found it appalling you would ask such a thing, so I posted it for everyone else in the competition to see, in case you make your way in; they'd know what they're up against-- someone who will cheat to win a quick buck.

I do not have anything against you, nor am I "out" for you. This is probably the first direct encounter we've had with each other, and when I did not approve of your attitude, you immediately deployed the "I'm a homosexual, everyone hates me" guilt trip. When that didn't work, you moved on to nothing but flame. While I tried to stop the flame match in the IRC with humor, then with authority, you and foxichu and oosh kept going. So I decided to oust myself from the situation.

I feel that in this situation, the way you spent your money does concern everyone else. You got that money from the community here, and you did so by toying with their emotions. The only reason many of the people bought your ebooks is because they wanted to help you out. You pushed the fact that your broke, your dads broke, and you need money for university. That is why people bought your ebook and that is why you had all the money you did.

I felt it was disrespectful and inappropriate for you to take this money and not only spend it on things that were unnecessary and had nothing to do with your university needs, but also flaunted it to the people in the irc. Did you really need this money that people basically donated to you, or were you just toying with people to get the most money out of them you could?

 

How is asking for people to recognize your entry cheating? I'm not forcing anyone to nominate me or vote for me. Simply asking them to choose who they think won the competition.

Is it cheating when contestants on American Idol ask for people to vote for them? No. So I don't see the difference here.

 

I feel like Finn should have either kept it private that he was going on a shopping spree with the money, or just plain out said what he would do when people donated/bought his e-book.

On the other hand, I don't think it deserves this amount of criticism. I can understand why others might not be happy about it, but in the end, if he chooses to buy clothes instead of books for uni, thats his choice, and in the end it only affects him, not us.

 

As long as he buys the books he needed for his classes I do not care how he spends the rest of the money. I would only be mad if he continues to beg for money afterwards.

 

Would you like me to list all of the ways this Rap contest is nothing like American Idol?
