Hey guys, I just had an awful night and I just need to get it off my chest. I just went to prom with my gf and I had a really good time. Afterwards she invited me to am afterparty but told me it was just gonna be hanging out so we went. A little after we showed up all these people started showing up with alcohol and weed and stuff. Mind you I've never drank or smoked and I've never been exposed to parties like that before. As the night went on i really didn't know what to do with myself. There was one guy that I knew wasn't drinking so I'd talk to him on and off but my girlfriend was just sitting there. I asked her what's wrong and she just said let's go. As I'm taking her home she starts crying and telling me off about how I wasn't making an attempt to make friends with her friends and how I was just standing there. She wouldn't let me try to talk to her so I ended up just dropping her off. We kinda texted about it later on but her mom was making things worse and started saying stuff about me. What I need from you guys is help as to what I'm supposed to say to my gf. She kept saying things like sorry I made you meet my friends and how she's never going to a dance again. We've never really fought before and I'm at a loss for words. I love her and she said she's not breaking up with me but that's not the point. What do I say? I tried to tell her that I was so uncomfortable there and I didn't know what to do but she kept telling me about how much I hurt her and ruined her entire night.

Help?

Tbh and im not trying to be a jerk here or make things worse.

But if she is going to be that clingy. I would suggest you either.

1. Take a break from dating her for a bit. or break up with her.
2. Have a deep chat about it and put all your cards/feelings on the table. tell her how you feel about the situation.

I would suggest the second one. and if that doesnt work then the first one.

Sorry man, sounds like a typical high school girlfriend with high school drama. Just explain to her that you don't drink or smoke weed and it's uncomfortable to be around people when they are doing it.

Offer to go out with her and her friends to a different social occasion that doesn't involve drinking to show that you care. If she still wants to bitch after that then just drop her.

I mean seriously ruined her whole night? Give me a fucking break, you took her to the dance and had a good time, that's the point of proms. If she wanted you to get fucked up at an after party and that's not what you're into then she isn't right for you.

I hate drama...

honestly man if drinking isnt your thing then tell her your not into that kinda thing.

I mean, it just sounds like shes just being cold.

Shes gotta respect the fact that your not into that scene and thats that. (p.s. i like to drink lots but if someone says they arent into drinking i wouldnt put them into a situation like that, and neither should she)

and kabal is right about the whole ruining her night bull shit. Thats the dumbest thing i have ever heard.

Ok, this is what I would say; "Why are you trying to make me do things I don't want to do, I didn't feel to good anyway but I went because you wanted me to and I love you. But really you're just being stupid, I would never bring you into a situation where you feel uncomfortable."

Something on the lines of that anyway. But it's very likely she will get all pissy with you. If you love her so much that you don't want to cause any trouble then the best thing to do is just keep apologising until she is happy.
