"anti-psychotic medications are currently the most effective treatment available for schizophrenia, especially when combined with psychosocial treatments."

- Working Group for the Canadian Psychiatric Association and Canadian Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia.

"anti-psychotic medications are the primary way of treating this disorder. because many patients remain impaired between episodes, long-term care must often involve the provision of housing and social support. people with impaired occupational and social skills need special types of training. the treatment of schizophrenia requires attention on all of these fronts and is necessarily concerned with the cooperative efforts of many types of professionals. schizophrenia also takes its toll on families."

- ABNORMAL PSYCHOLOGY, Oltmanns, T et al.

Guys, please stop arguing over which term is offensive or not, we're here to help OP.

This.
"creative mind" don't create hallucinations.
when have you EVER heard of a psychologist using that kind of terminology to refer to people experiencing hallucinations.

"Hey peter, I am hearing voices calling my name and seeing people that aren't there."
"It's ok paul, you just have a creative mind"

do you realize how ridiculous that sounds?

also, telling someone to take medication for schizophrenia is the worst advice ever?

Except according to OP he hasn't been diagnosed with schizophrenia, there's a difference between studying psychology and being a certified psychologist.

I'm sure there also has to be some sort of empirical evidence to support a diagnosis.

And by creative, I meant imaginative though rereading the OP I realize I misread it but my advice remains the same.

to get anti-psychotic medicine you need to be diagnosed by a clinical psychologist or a psychiatrist. telling someone to get medication is indirectly telling them to go to a psychiatrist.

this will be my last post as i feel i am wasting energy writing to someone who thinks hallucinations are caused by a creative , or imaginative, mind.

I don't belive in psychiatrist, lots of times people suicide because of the drugs they give you, every month 3,000 teens die because of subscribed medication from psychiatrist.

where do your statistics come from??

anybody can make up statistics to make people believe them, 75% of people know that.:)

Well, besides being shot down... I could go into many explanations to why I believe what I believe. But in short, I believe in the one, true God. I also believe Satan exists. I believe God created all things and Satan is the beginning of sin, and sin itself, which, by definition, "sin" means "Not Perfect". So, if there is proof of mental health issues, I believe it is imperfect which means it is sin, therefore from Satan. So believe what you want, but I'm here to help the OP, not to discuss medical and religious matters.

Blazinfasstt, if all you're here for is to argue with what people say, leave. This is not the place for that, and if you continue, you will be reported.

Belive it or not yesterday I was watching a documentry on the History channel.. about psychiatrist. There were lots of stories about people suciding becuase they got prescribed Xanax, Adreal, and lots of other stuff. It just scared me. Have you noticed psychiatrist use the word "treatment" and theres a never the word "cure"? So a treatment would mean I will be on this pill for the rest of my life if I start taking w/e pills they subscribe to me. Also there is so many side effects its not even funny.. its scary

Objective: Ecological studies have demonstrated a substantial decrease in suicide in parallel with an increase in the use of antidepressants. Causality cannot, however, be inferred from such studies. The aim of this study was to test on the individual level the hypothesis that treatment with antidepressant medication has been a substantially contributing cause of the decrease in suicide. Method: Time trends in the detection of antidepressants and five 'control medications' in the forensic toxicological screening of 16,937 suicides and 33,426 controls in Sweden 1995–2005. Results: The expected number of antidepressant-positive suicides in 2005 was 409 if the hypothesis was true and 603 if it was false. The observed number in 2005 was 420. The control medications were detected to the extent that was expected if not preventing suicide. Conclusion: The observed trend in the number of suicides with antidepressants was well predicted by the hypothesis that the increased use of antidepressants has been a substantially contributing cause of the decrease in suicide.

Isacsson, G. G., Holmgren, A. A., Ösby, U. U., & Ahlner, J. J. (2009). Decrease in suicide among the individuals treated with antidepressants: A controlled study of antidepressants in suicide, Sweden 1995–2005. Acta Psychiatrica Scandinavica, 120(1), 37-44. doi:10.1111/j.1600-0447.2009.01344.x

get the whole story. one documentary on the history channel is hardly a good base for your opinion. read my other post. it is an abstract of a study conducted to investigate this matter.

there is no "cure" because we are not talking about finding compounds to kill specific organisms or cells. we are working with a unique mind. some people do very well with treatments, some do worse because they may have other underlying problems that would be considered confounding variables.

this doesnt make the treatments useless. they are helpful for more people than they arent. some drugs are better than others.

try to find one "cure" for boredom. u cant find one because some person wont be enterained by cured by ur, well, cure.

if it doesnt cure everyone's boredom it is not a cure, it is a treatment.

dont view this convo so simplistically.
im arguing for an effective treatment, not for my point of view.

you on the other hand are arguing that the devil is responsible for his symptoms. i hardly think that is a step forward. but, if it works for you go for it.

You are disrespecting my views. You are also arguing with the OP and it is NOT constructive.

Take the arguing elsewhere, I'm sure the OP doesn't want this bullshit in his thread. Each of you will be infracted if it doesn't stop.

As others have said, I would suggest seeing a professional to talk to about what you are going through. Even if you aren't interested in taking prescription drugs, I think it would help to have someone to talk to, and getting your feelings out might help as well.

Im not hurting myself or anyone I just have fantasy of killing people, and just a bit paranoid.

No offense, but worst advice ever.

*psychologist.

Psychiatrists are just drug dispensers.

In response to OP, you could very well be normal and just be suffering from trauma and have a creative mind. Many people tend to just shut down and label people that are different.

My advice is to see multiple psychologists to diagnose if you're actually suffering from a mental disorder(s). Meditation and self-reflection also helps greatly, YMMV.

Hope all is well.

Seriously? There's a fine line between schizoid and creativity, and that line was crossed a while back. Giving a schizophrenic medicine is the worst advice ever? Have you ever been around a schizophrenic on medicine and the same that's not on medicine at a different time? Idiot.

OP, talk to a doctor or get yourself into counseling. If all that you say is true, I suggest you get over your anti-medication feelings quickly.

But If God made all things, he made Satan, who is the father of sin. So God made sin. God is the problem?
