Donate to sythe directly

This is the first site i've come across that doesn't allow direct donations. Instead it relies on 'bond holders' and incurs unnecessary middleman fees for the donor, eg. a $25 donor rank would cost ~$35...

If chargeback is a concern if direct paypal donations were to be accepted, why not make it such that the rank will only be awarded after 45 days (or however long it takes to make chargeback impossible), so that users have a choice of getting a donor rank at the actual cost with a 45 days delay?

This or at least provide an option to take the middleman route or the delay route.

no need, as long as you've previously donated (even $5) and meet certain requirments as per join date/posts you can donate for yourself.

 

I support this. If anything then don't accept paypal, only accept moneybookers etc.

 

The delay is too long and undesirable. It's fine as it is.

 

A big reason behind disallowing direct donations is the sheer turnover risk.

There is a pretty substantial amount of serial ban evaders who Scam, Get banned, Evade, Build trust, scam, get banned, etc, etc, you get the picture.

A lot of these guys will come back on a new account, donate anywhere from $25-100+ via a bond holder, build up a little trust then scamquit.

If direct payments were accepted, these users would instead just charge back the paypal payments, creating issues for sythes paypal account, as well as give these repeat offenders a method of refunding/refuting their payments. At least via bond holders with RSGP or other non-refundable methods, they legitimately have to pay out of pocket (and in some cases, overpay due to the rates the bond holder offers) and can't charge back.

 

Doesn't look very 1:1 to me. Not quite sure where you learnt maths but you better go double check that.

OT: As stated before, who would want to wait 45 days for their donor rank to show? I think $5 and (I think its) 50 posts is needed before accepting Paypal since the risk, and that's just fine how it is. No need to change this, sorry.

I believe it's $5, 100 posts, and a member for 30-60 days or something. I believe there's a restriction on how long you've been on the site as well.

Yes, I am aware of this. I never said you could prevent chargebacks. My comment about no chargebacks was in regards to those who pay via RSGP or other non-refundable methods.

You would to have previously donated, or go through a bond holder.

 

Spend $10 getting a $5 donation, then donate after that, as the options free up for you.

This is my point.

 

To donate direct the requirements are:
- Be a donor
- Have 100 posts
- Be a member for 2 weeks

So you only really have to overpay a tad for the 5$ rank and be around for a bit before you can donate directly - it's not much to ask to give assurance that you'll probably stick around and not take your donation back.

 

Why wouldn't we be able to donate with Bitcoin etc.
I think that would be a great idea! I also support this.
