[Denied] Gives user’s that don’t post from a home IP, a DNT instead of a TWC

Users that don’t post from a home IP should receive a DNT so that they can not trade in the market

Example: Veteran of Runescape aka "RS Veteran" scam

You can see that “Veteran of RuneScape” had a TWC for not posting from a home IP, and he was still able to trade, built up a few vouches, and then scammed thousands of dollars. He was ban evading someone, and was allowed to post trade threads and build vouches.

I know ultimately it’s up to the purchaser to do their research and make safe decisions. But it would just make sense to me to eliminate people not posting from a home IP, from actively trading because we do not know who they are and if they are ban evading or scammers.

 

Support on this, the guy wasn't even vouched as it was him buying from sources and it seems people didn't actually notice they was trading someone with 0 vouches.

Shame that people get scammed due to such decisions, but it happens and we live and learn from it.

 

No support. Not everyone wants to give out their home ip online. But if they don't we let users know to use caution trading them. That is enough. If a user decides to trade something with them, it is at their own risk.

Yeah, I don't see this passing. Alot of users also have their No home IP TWC disputed just to end up banned for ban evading later on. IP's are too unreliable to punish people for. The market is fucked and remains fucked.

It makes too much sense to do this, but a lot of work if it has to be done manually. Is it possible to automate this? I doubt it is.

None of this sounds suspicious to me. This is a marketplace forum and donating has perks.

It is infact suspicious - history on sythe shows that a lot of people who join and donate right away are usually in it to scam people
The perk would be to look more trusthworthy, making it easier to scam people lol..

 

Pattern recognition and enforcing rules based on that pattern only hurts those who do not intend to follow the same path. From your perspective I can understand your position.

Well for me, I donated because I liked the UI perk. It makes me standout. You can look at it in that way, but it isn't something that can be measured just by donating.

 

It's a slippery slope for sure. I think it is circumstantial. For example, I don't think we should penalize those who do not have their own personal internet, but on the flip side, it could possibly eliminate the epidemic of banned users returning under the radar. It would also force many to repay their dues and instill trust in a market tainted with repeat scammers.

The probability of users who do not have their own personal internet in an age where access to such is easily obtainable is very low. You would have to weigh the negatives and positives to see which makes more sense here.

 

That is fair. Would also be limiting traffic by a lot and making this into a playerauctions type of market without the extra verification.

Open market vs Restricted. I was just weighing the two to see what would be a better outcome for the site and it's users.
