Ban advertising of Gambling Servers/websites

I swear half of the scam accusations lately are related to these servers and websites, they're obviously all shady. What is the benefit for allowing these to be advertised here?

I think the root of the problem is all the pings you get from Runestake, which doesn't warrant a full-on ban on gambling. No support from me

Kind of ironic that you're making this case on a black market forum that mainly thrives off a video game which's currency's value is mainly held up by gambling.

 

I don't see how this is ironic in any way, shape or form. Buying a Runescape account is not equivalent to playing blackjack in a sketchy discord server.

Gp rate is the cement of the entire osrs economy. Consequently, gp rate has a strong link with account sales. For instance, if gp rate plumets, typical botting accounts will be reduced in value, which will in return impact other account builds (especially when accounts are built by humans). Now draw the line between the heavy impact of gambling on gp rates, and you're full circle.

In your infinite wisdom, please cite me the statistics correlating the heavy impact of gambling on gp rates? I would love to just take your word but nah.

 

While it's true that, as of the writing of this post, several scam reports relate to gambling, that is not indicative of the majority of recent scam reports. See Report A Scammer Archive and click back a few pages. Plus, where would we draw the line? Closing all market activity to prevent all scams?

The logic of this thread is literally "black sheep bad, so all black sheep bad".

 

As much as I think gambling is too big a part of this community and damages the lives of a lot of people, this is never going to happen.

Biggest issue IMO is that the gambling areas advertised here aren't regulated and are much worse from a players perspective than, for example, what you'd get at a traditional casino.

Do I think it would be a good thing? Yes. Will it happen? Hell no

There can be some sort of alternative for people who know how to actually run it but for people who abuse it…. Idk form some rule against them.

 

Personally I think RS gambling sites are dumb. I'm 28 so I don't know who is actually gambling and if its kids gambling. I don't like the idea of selling gambling to kids. Loot boxes, packs etc...

However, I think adults should be allowed to do whatever they want with their money. Also, I don't think just because one site scam-quit it means all RS-related casinos are going to do the same.
