    The only thing I could suggest is Vouches AND Rep. So that way you get both advantages.

    The system would be too easily abused. If someone doesn't like someone, he'd obviously give said person negative rep.

    I don't see how this would be a replacement though, I mean the way the reputation system works is that only Moderators and Staff can view other peoples reputation logs so even when you rep the person other people wont be able to see where you repped them or the comment you gave. So I don't see how this is an idea replacement, but like Brendan said to have both vouches and rep wouldn't be a bad idea.

    Not really, I know we have our fair bit of childish users but every community is like that, its pretty much inevitable. Its only a suggestion plus it wouldn't hurt I mean reputation's reputation nothing more nothing less.

    That's life though, and that is the whole point of reputation plus it shows how well liked and appreciated a user is.
