Advertisement Banner Change Please

This is blinding and painful on the eyes. Can this please not "spaz" or just be static or move at a less eye intensive pace?

Or is there a way to turn off this one ad? I don't mind the others, just not this one.

I'm referencing the "discord.gg/sythe" pink box of obnoxiousness.

also if you right click it you can take the "loop" off on google chrome don't know if you knew but it does come back its a constant pain

That said, I support. We would remove that sort of thing if it were a signature, so I don't see why we should allow it as a more prominent banner ad. Not to mention it causes confusion with the official Discord servers.

I think he had another banner before which could cause epileptic seizures which was then removed, but ye this is the same shit again. I’m also still wondering why we allow such discord servers to be advertised as it makes it look like it’s the official Sythe discord server, and by now I guess we all know how stupid people are.

 

I support. Saw someone argue that he pays a lot of money for the slot. Then I bet he can pay for a banner that doesn't cause epileptic seizures.

 

I too would support reasonable health-related banner restrictions.

additionally, sythe serves the message “ad blockers break this site”. If that is true, then it’s a major liability to have an unblockable ad be an epileptic trigger.

That banner is the reason you don’t have to pay to be on this platform. So unless you can’t outbid them, I suggest you just go with the flow.

 

Brave browser blocks all banners / ads aswell as signatures on sythe.

Majority is dogshit advertising thats an eye sore anyways.

 

In case we have some ass clowns with photosensitive epilepsy browsing a video game forum I've listed below what theu should do (which they shouldn't be playing video games in the first place).

Make sure to realise that with the precautions epileptic people take ; (note only 3%~ of epilepsy is photosensitive) that the banner wouldn't induce a seizure.

Fyi the colour pattern used strongly reduces the chance of a seizure. I can assure you the banner of stake is more problematic.

Be screen-smart. Some precautions to take include:

• Watch TV and play video games in a well-lit room and at a safe distance from the screen (at least 8 feet from the TV and 2 feet from a computer monitor).
• Use flicker-free monitors (LCD or flat screen).
• Use a remote control instead of walking up to the TV to change the channel.
• Reduce the brightness on screen monitors.
• Adjust Internet settings to control moving images.
• Limit time spent in front of the TV, computer, and on hand-held devices.

I'd support your argument if someone educated on the topic of photosensitive epilepsy was to refer to that banner as a severe threat while the individual uses an LCD monitor, sits 2 feet away in a bright light room and follows all precautions. I will personally outbid and put up an epilepsy awareness campaign.

I believe if he's paying for it he can do whatever he desires with it. I am however not sure of any banner restrictions because I am not opted into bidding.

 

The only thing that's sensitive and prone to triggers are the very few but very vocal members of this community.

Funny enough these are usually the least educated about what they like to constantly whine about and act as if it's negatively affecting other people because they're too scared to admit their selfishness regarding what bothers them. Just say it's annoying, don't try to bring in something you know nothing about. For something to cause epileptic seizures, it needs to have a large difference in brightness, has a constant pattern, usually requires certain set of specific colors, and takes up the majority of their field of vision. And if someone is prone to seizures, even though they basically have faulty wiring in their brain, they're still smart enough to realize they can just turn down the brightness, contrast, and blue light levels in their monitor and they ensure that they purchase the right monitor with a higher refresh rate and that's flicker-free. This isn't someone staring at a TV-sized advertisement on maximum brightness, and the advertisement used two similar colors that did not have a huge variance in brightness levels and would not even reach anywhere close to a monitor's maximum brightness level.

 

The advertisement is doing what it's supposed to do, It's getting your attention. If you dont like it, than stop looking at it. No one is forcing you to look at the bottom of the website page. Also I'd like to point out that advertisement links you to the real og sythe discord. The way it was always meant to be. Not the sham of a server you pussies provide now a days. You legit have a barrel full of words were not allowed to type in your server or you get banned. Honestly I'm glad discord has been a nightmare for you faggots. You deserve getting it shut down every other week.
