BASIC IDEA:

Would sythe.org as a whole participate in a forum (or a thread) dedicated to stock investment insight if there was one? I know the site demographic is primarily teens 14-18, but there's also quite a bit of people in their 20s, and quite a bit who are active in crypto and stock exchange. Sharing insight could be incentivized somehow to foster interest in the section as future CDT events, maybe

EXTREME ITERATION BELOW:

If A LOT of work were put into this idea, it'd be neat to have a site widget inside a stock-dedicated forum that tracks the stock performance of recently submitted bets. The UI could be repurposed for other sub-forums as well where featured items, prices, or profiles would be useful for users. Like RSGP prices, WoW gold prices, League Boosting rates and top boosters, etc.

The idea is the titles are formatted in a specific way, a bot parses it and searches a stock database using the stock listing name, and back-end functionality tracks the progress of top all-time performing bets, daily bet performance, and top investor information.

Top investor information could be diversity (number of stocks supplied in the sub forum), performance metrics like average portfolio performance, highest growth, other such bullshit, etc.

The threads themselves would be encouraged to include sources as to why their stock bet is a good one.

Investors who post shitty bets continuously receive blocks from posting new listings for a defined amount of time.

Awards from CDT to incentivize the top investors, and other leveling functionality that keeps Top Investors competitive.

 

Personally I don't see how this benefits the site. It also introduces complications with international gambling legalities, so I'm not in favor personally.

Though there might be an interesting way to tie SytheGold into this...

I wouldn't do it. Im quite sure there are numerous regulations/directives which apply to Sythe and strictly prohibit encouragement of gambling for underaged people or something in that spirit.
I also know the commission has no chill on these matters

I think there might be misunderstanding about the title I gave, so just in case: When I say "bets" I don't mean actual gambling. It's more of a play on words for the subreddit r/wallstreetbets, which runs perfectly fine on the backbone of resource linking and spectulatory discussion

but again, I have no clue what redtapes would crop up if the idea iterates into site functionality versus a forum dedicated to stock conversation in addition to cryptocurrency conversation

Maybe I misunderstood your original suggestion @MohtasaUnique. We have a subforum for investment discussion Cryptocurrency, Finance, & Gambling Discussion and we have discord bots that track prices of various things. Is your idea basically combining the two?

 

Yeah, incorporation into the site itself for something more interactive to entice activity on-site. Incentivizing and gamifying that particular niche may foster increased interest in people curious about starting stock investment as well as get insight out of seasoned traders in the community.

The underlying direction I’m taking on a few suggestions I’m making and am still ideating is how to increase forum engagement. I’d love to see sythe buzzing like it was pre-2012, and some of that activity is side-stepped into discord and offsite platforms, which dilutes the level of activity (in my own perception, which may be skewed)

 

Huge waste of time for Richard/Matthew, I don't see any positive reason to add this feature.

Almost 98% of this site members only use Sythe.org for selling/Trading Video games related object/currency.
most people are not interested in stock or even crypto.

I could see myself posting in a stocks forum but the widgets you're suggesting might be a little much

 

There is no point in converting this site into some stock/trading forum as there are plenty out there already. Also, if the demographic is 14-18 like you say, I doubt it's a wise idea to introduce them to foolish investments (betting). Just a terrible idea.

It’s a cool idea. Unfortunately, I don’t see anything like this being implemented in the near future due to the already long list of pending suggestions.

 

I wouldn't personally take any part of it, I love the idea but I don't know how legal it is ;p

I'm relatively new to stock market investing, but have developed a real interest in it over the past year. Something like this would be a very cool addition to the site. Just don't see it happening, though.

 

I think this could be fun idea but I wouldn't include the widget on the site unless it was something that could be opted in and out of. It would look weird to have it if you're not interested in that kind of stuff.
