[Denied] Totally forbid [TRUSTED] in titles

Before any super intelligent person enlightens me:
I know it’s been suggested.
I am fully aware it’s a free market.

So why am I suggesting it?
I have twice now guided people I know in real life along with multiple random newcomers on sythe, and had them send me thread link/profile of any person they are considering conducting business with.

Multiple times I’ve been linked a thread that have «Trusted» in it. Often newcomers (nothing wrong with being a newcomer) and a lower donor status. I’m not gonna pretend every one of these guys have ill intentions, but many do.
I found this super interesting.

It’s easy for experienced members to say that «Why don’t they check vouches?»
«Why don’t pay attention to join date?»
New people interpret things different on this site, perhaps they might even think having [TRUSTED] in their thread is quite the accomplishment.

Ruling is currently that being trusted is subjective. And that is true I cannot agree more, it’s a free market so why not have people form their own opinion given on what information is available?

It sounds stupid that people are actually being misguided such statements. It’s unknown terrain for newcomers looking to trade here. And how they interpret someone’s trust level varies. So why not force them to make their own jdugement of someones trust level the way trust ideally should be measured?

 

Alright so you'd like to forbid "TRUSTED" in titles, but what about "Cheapest"? "Best"? "Fastest"? I mean sure there are other markets out there who forbid this and once you've made the change it probably wouldn't be too hard to maintain it - but I doubt that will happen on here.

 

Speaking from experience guiding these newcomers they all assumed the person in question was trusted because of the thread titles. If I remember correctly they were all looking to have services/boosts completed on their accounts.
The idea behind this suggestion is to enforce smarter trust evaluation, and not blindly assume someone is trusted based upon their thread/«trusted» ui or whatever.
We have resources to measure trust, and new traders most often turn a blind eye to it.

It's a slippery slope, but we've managed to forbid gold sellers from advertising rates in their titles, so there is hope. "Trusted," "safest," and "secure" (really anything to do with the safety of a trade) might be the keywords to start with. "Cheap"/"Fastest"/"Best" are less harmful imo. Support.

I'm in agreement with Superfluous.
Trusted, cheapest, best, and fastest all do have one thing in common. They are/can be subjective.
However, "trusted" is different than the other three. Trusted implies a certain level of safety for a buyer that the others don't.

I, actually, think this might be a good idea. Let vouches, donations, activity, account age, etc. be the determinant on whether someone is trusted. Someone who actually is trusted does not need to put the word in their title. Therefore, to @Hex point, more often than not it is those looking to appear more trusted than they are who put it in the title.

 

I agree! or only allow 1k+ donor with 1000 vouches or something have the right to post that. Some requirements would be ideal.

 

You forbid it or you don't, in my opinion. Again, let someone's reputation speak for their trustworthiness.

 

We cannot just limit it to some members. That'd be like a "rank". It's a free market so we have to either ban or allow it.

 

just allow it and let people figure it out then. You should be able to make your own determination if someone is trusted or not.

 

This logic is flawed especially if you are new to the site.

 

no support there are several different ways of saying trusted example vouched,credible loyal and many more. this would just be a pain in the ass for staff to enforce

 

Support, trust is earned and shouldn't be flagged in a post for the fun of it.

Yep, it's a mess to say the least.

I do think things could have been seen to faster, but you can only do so much in a day.

 

I agree with both of these posts. Being said, perhaps we should look more at shortening the thread titles all together as most of them are pretty lengthy and bothersome to look at. Someone who just joined today could copy and paste a thread title from someone with marketing experience and roll with that as well.

 

Yup it's like back in the day when I first started Sythe and even when I first glanced at it, I always saw the "SVU" (sythe verified user) funrank and always thought like oh shit these guys are the real deal.

Now days it's anything with a penis can say oh I have a penis.

 

I support because it's kinda corny for people that have just joined like me or are a reg sythe member/ low donor to have trusted in their thread title.
