[denied] Tone Down Marketing Claims

Just looking at the GP Sales alone, I see

"Cheapest RS3 Gold" - one person
"Cheapest Bulk Rs3" - another person
"Cheapest Rates - another person
"Cheapest Rs3" - ...
"Cheapest RS3 in the market" - ...

Etc. When you go ahead and PM them, some of their rates are absolute shit compared to others. Same thing occurs in other markets and forums where you see

Stuff like "Buying RuneScape 3 GOLD Highest rates" and their rates aren't the highest or "Lowest Swap Rates 100%" and they won't even beat another swapper's rates when you PM them.

You see stuff like this in other markets like Name Sales where 3 people claim they're the #1 name seller or when you see people selling GP with "100% Safe" claims since there's always a risk involved when you RWT.

False marketing that is unsubstantiated just really annoying. Claims like "Selling Extremely Cheap RS3 GP" or "Selling the Rarest RSNs" is fine but when I see 5 different people with "I have the Cheapest Rates, Beating Any other Rates, 100% Safe" and none of that is true, it's just false marketing honestly and a waste of time approaching them.

Not pointing fingers at anyone but would be appreciated if title marketing gets toned down. It's a waste of time getting clickbaited.

 

So if someone is a 1 month Sythe account who donated $50 and comes in and says, "#1 Gold Seller on Sythe, Cheapest Rates Guaranteed, 100% no RWT Ban" would that be all right?

 

They don't need to check each thread. It should just be a blanket ban of specific terms claiming that you're the best to some extent. Similar to how there was a ban on marketing exact GP rates on your thread since rates change every day.

5 people at once can't be the #1 Gold Seller or #1 Swapper or #1 Name Trader or all have the "Cheapest Rates".

Having clickbaity marketing titles encourages other competitors to do it too then most of the Sythe threads just becomes a cesspool of clickbait false marketing titles all claiming that they’re #1 and how they can beat other rates 100% of the time when in reality they won’t budge with rates.

 

No support. Unfortunately people are free to advertise how they want. Although I think those types of titles deceive, everyone has them and it's just another competitive marketplace.

I don’t think cracking down on “Cheapest rate” claims is feasible or even reasonable - rates change frequently and it wouldn’t be fair to punish someone for not lowering their rates as quick as another seller (for example. That being said, I do have a problem with someone claiming they beat competitors rates when they actually don’t, or if anyone is claiming there’s 0 risk of a ban

 

As others have mentioned, this won't happen. Providers can advertise however they like, and customers can decide for themselves whether or not to believe those claims. It works the same way irl; just because I say "this is the best sweater ever" doesn't make it so.

You can also report these threads and some quick proof the claims are fabricated (e.g. a screenshot of them refusing to price match a better deal you found elsewhere) if any are particularly egregious.

I would settle for maybe a ruling on lighter titles.

To something more like Mikes cheap gold shop. Maybe have some indication on the side he’s a donor and has a vouch thread.

 

I do get what you mean, as of right now it's a bit of a mess due to inflation of competition.

Everyone wants the best deal, everyone tries to offer the best deal and make the most money it's a complete ass ache. I would like to support, but I know nothing will come of it >.<

No support for many of the reasons above, Sythe is a free market. Use proper trading techniques and if you don't like the way someone is posting something shop around.

 

No support. If someone says buying their gold will make my dick bigger then I will buy their gold happily.

 

It is quite annoying when someone advertises lowest rates and then their rate is 10 cents higher than someone else and they dont price match/beat it.

 

If a couple people say “Lowest Rate Guaranteed” would you hold them accountable if they lie about that?

I’m not asking for a stringent moderation of how people want to market their services. I’m just asking for a tweak on how people market things before Sythe forums become even more of a cesspool of fake marketing threads. If this competition to see which seller can falsely market their products better keeps going on, by next year we’re going to have 15 #1 GP sellers and 30 people having the Lowest Rates guaranteed.

It’s a complete waste of time for newcomers as well and extremely deceptive.

 

Another option would be to issue punishments or infractions for deceptive marketing.

If someone advertises they have the cheapest rates on Sythe and that they would beat anyone else, they should back up their marketing claims or get an infraction for it.

Same goes with anything else like advertising taking name snipe responsibility when you buy a RSN or having “FEEless MM services”, or saying “100% no RWT ban” you need to back up what you say otherwise you can just bullshit every title you make just to make someone click.

Why don't people ever read previously approved/denied suggestions, prior to making the same suggestions over, and over.

 

Sorry, I didn’t word it right, I know you can get infractions for deceptive marketing practices but I’m talking about a slightly more specific subject of having clickbait/deceptive marketing claims like “CheapEST” or “Beating all rates” where people don’t back those up. If those are reportable the too let me know and link me to the previous suggestion.

I’m just reading through the current threads and I don’t see the underlying problem resolved at all with the previous suggestion, which is why I made another one.
