[APPROVED/REVIEW] Discord popout

Unsure if this has been suggested before - what are our thoughts on having a popout(?) Discord join button/tag towards the bottom of the page (or wherever is deemed best), similar to other websites.

May prove easier for new users to engage with the community, and may also keep them around longer.

Here's an example of another website, not the best, but was the quickest find.

 

This was accepted before but still not implemented, albeit a bit different but goes with the same style of being prominent.

Seems like a good idea to get people more involved as there's not so much room for random discussions. Support.

 

I'd support this but it's already at the bottom of the website. There's no reason for it to be a huge floating button.

Maybe those few links at the bottom could be made more prominent and have some icons too? Otherwise there's a lot of "official" things that kind of get left out and become inactive because of lack of prominence on the site maybe they deserve some space on the "top bar" that's currently just links to sections and section toggles. @Sythe

For example it could be the Discord and Sythe Gaming Center (currently just community servers) / User Center.

As in, on a users actual profile page?

Why not give it a bit more exposure and move the current Discord button/icon elsewhere, as Grave suggested? Make it a bit more easier to find/bit more prominent.

 

can it not be like a floating discord invitation link to the sythe discord?

 

It was supposed to replace one of the fields on the quick nav bar at the top of the main page. I pressed @Sythe to do this and IP audit QoL update for a very long time, but he never found the time to do it. The IP audit QoL update was to make banned users on an IP audit to show up with a red color. There's some complexity in doing that, but should be doable in a few hours assuming everything works correctly.

 

Moving this to accepted so shin/matthew/sythe will be able to process this
