[DENIED] Merge RS markets into Game Markets

This is kind of a follow up on the forum redesign suggestion:

My suggestion:

Instead of having the RS markets completely separate from every other game I'd like to see the RS markets merged into the other games markets, and the "other" taken out of the title so it's just "Game Markets" (or whatever else you believe suits that section better) as I see no need to keep that market separate from every other popular game. I get that the RS market is what Sythe is known for and thrives off of, but I believe if we merged the two it would appeal more users from other markets that are looking into joining Sythe. I don't really see harm in doing it because the RS market interest will always be there regardless, and I'd imagine it wouldn't be hard to fit all the RS markets into subsections like with the other games. Also this would give more space to fit another section possibly in the forum (if needed).

 

Are you wanting to change the position of the RS market(As in move it from the top)?

Both basically. I'd like to see the RS markets gone and put in the way the other game markets are if that makes sense (literally just remove that section/have it aligned with the other popular games). People will still go to the RS sections if they need to and the traffic towards other games will potentially increase due to other heavily involved RS market members seeing more variety + giving a more appealing look towards new members who have no idea what RS is, and/or don't want to deal with it.

I feel like that's a win-win for everyone though don't you think?

Sythe is mostly runescape market. There are the most posts, threads and services, it should stay this way as Sythe doesnt seem to grow in other sections as much as in RuneScape especially now when it's peaking because of a lot of new players

 

I have to agree with @Zuzel111. If I had heard of this as a "Games black market" or whatever rather than "RuneScape black market", I wouldn't have joined I think.

Google "RuneScape black market" and Sythe is the first thing that pops up.

Type League of Legends black market for example, you can't even find Sythe on there..

 

This website is a huge majority RuneScape based. It's mostly a RuneScape black market, and I don't support the decision to
make it all into one gaming market. RuneScape on this website has enough support to have it's very own sections.

I support this and the reasoning why, makes complete sense.

 

I don't support, because even though we want to include all other games and make it seem like there is a balance, we can't disadvantage the core market that provides growth to this community.

 

I don't support this because there are so many sub-categories for the Runescape market and it makes sense for it to have its own section. although I don't play RS, it is a major part of Sythe's identity, and I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing. all sites have their niches.

 

I believe you all make valid points (@Angels pretty much summed up the thoughts everyone who opposed this suggestion perfectly), however do you still believe there is any harm being done if we're able to fit all of the RS markets in there? I know it's the #1 market on Sythe as Sythe has thrived off RS for many years, but I'm sure he could manage to do that in a way that would still be easily accessible for everyone else. I don't play RS myself personally (log on once every now and then, but very rarely), however I'm well aware the forum is heavily revolved around RS (in terms of the funranks, the game having its own section, the banners, etc etc), and I get that 100% I'm just trying to think of ideas that would help the forums growth in the long-term. I don't see how this suggestion can really hurt anyone in finding what they need to find (even if they're lazy it'd be so easy to spot lol). RS is a very old game, and I'm sure 95% (if not more) of users who've dealt in the RWT aspect of RS (even a lot of my friends who never RWT have heard of it before) know what Sythe is through word of mouth, or through dealing on it in the past.

 

I would also like to elaborate on the RuneScape section as a whole. I've looked at some other stuff regarding this post. If you look
at other games such as Fortnite, League, PUBG, so on and so fourth, there isn't a variety of things to purchase. It's mostly you buy
an account for a rank, skins, level, etc.

RuneScape as a whole, you have rare market, gold market, pures, mains, skillers, old school, runescape 3, deadman, runescape cheating, services, questing, fire capes, infernal capes, other untrades, etc.

In regards to your suggestion, I still have to not support because let's be honest here.. Sythe is the great most known RuneScape
market, if people who ran this wanted to be a thriving market for other games, it would have been.

 

I don't think it would necessarily hurt, but, for organizational purposes, it looks much nicer to have it on its own, in my opinion.
I also find that when sites (in general) try to leave their niche and go towards more of a "general" theme (general gaming marketplace in this place), it doesn't usually work out very well unless there is heavy, heavy effort being put into this. I can appreciate the efforts of wanting to step into a more general direction, but I think maybe this suggestion would be more suitable after efforts have been made (and successful) in going in a more general direction? Right now, Sythe is very largely Runescape, so I don't think trying to detach from that is in Sythe's best interests right now until/unless it establishes itself as more of a "general gaming marketplace".

This would definitely have to be a huge undertaking from the PR/CDT to promote other aspects of the site, and I think there even have been efforts from them to stimulate the other markets, but it's hard.

A counter-suggestion would maybe be trying to promote the other marketplaces and growing them enough that they would be worthy of having multiple subsections/its own section, just as Runescape does. Definitely not an easy suggestion, though. And I can totally see what your thoughts are and appreciate them, I just personally don't think it would be helpful at this point in time.

Personally I like the main focus of Sythe to be a runescape gold market. I don't support this because I believe it would slightly hurt the gold market & my business. Leaving as is just seems like the best way in my honest opinion.
