Good suggestion ABM, but I think the 14 days should be reduced to 5 days.

 

I do agree with that. 14 days may be too long, they could exploit it by then, as @Ice Queen alludes to.

 

The problem surrounding this is that some people may not have access to home broadband and instead use the likes of portable hotspot from their mobile or whatever, it would be a rare occurrence that someone would be active on a trading forum without home internet though.

 

Proof of ID/reasoning behind not being able to post at a home location should suffice, i guess?

 

In my opinion the Twc is more than enough. When you got a TWC for home ip the community side of sythe gives you a lot of shit and label you as a ban evader , the market side pretty much sees you as a DNT already.

Have in mind all accounts reciving Home IP TWC are new accs , being new on sythe is difficult , imagine adding to this the TWC.
A lot of the members that recive the TWC are one time users that want to buy or bought something and want to leave a vouch and then this people go offline until they need something again , it wouldnt be nice to come back and have a DNT.

Edit : Also In the Ras section I barely see people reporting someone that has a TWC for home ip.

So what u r applying is, That because someone who doesn't Post from a home Ip should be DNT after 14 days? But then scammers keep a Twc until all funds are paid then have a chance to Apply for it ro be removed. lol What if that person is using sythe for a service and doesn't care about being none Twc'd For the fact he doesn't want to do a service of some kind on sythe, I think the suggestion should be *Why do scammers get to keep there Twc*.

Scammers with Twc have to apply for it to be removed as you do for a Home Ip, This suggestion is poorly wrote, You have not cleared any major points up about how this would benefit the community, TWC already clears most things up.... Please go into more details.

 

I like this idea. But 1 week max I would put it at. Doesn't give them enough time to gain a reputation,

 

10 days, if you want it removed gotta be home, or show proof of bill or if you are military based, perhaps a military id or something on those lines? If not, I don't think the traffic lose will be any as many users are guests anyways, fair? Give me input

 

Kinda ruins the purpose of "free market" which is advertised. I've thought a lot about this myself and it pisses me off that obvious vaders like @Achilles12 who donates 50$ their first day of joining are allowed to stay when there is no doubt the person is vading.

I would like to see this change, given that if they post from a clean home ip they will have their dnt removed.
Or maybe like instantly dnt them instead of twc if they are not on a home ip

 

Exactly one year ago I suggested the same thing in the Staff Lounge Suggestions section. The thread was eventually closed due to inactivity and had multiple staff members supporting it. I remember that some staff members were against us "actively searching for users who hadn't posted from home IPs", another disliked it as all the Trade With Cautions and Do Not Trade marks might scare people off from Sythe as it makes it looks like an unsafe market and the main man behind the website here was wondering if a DNT/TWC would actually solve the problem at hand here.

To be more clear; I'm all in for issueing DNT's instead of TWC's immediately if they haven't posted from home IP's, however I'm against changing their TWC to a DNT after a certain amount of days.

 

@Wortel How about a custom rank? Since TWC and DNT include a lot more than just home IP bans with notions that might scare away newer users which are the most affected by this.



Slap a "NEED HOME IP VERIFICATION" rank that disallows seeing the trading sections (same as DNT) until resolved, linking to a page that explains the rank. (And assuring that it's resolved fast etc.)

Thought about that aswell; but some users might take this as some kind of trustlevel if they get it removed. Some users could for example have the rank one day and once removed "I've been verified by the staff team as can be seen [here] so there's nothing to worry about" - but then again, as counterargument you could say; they could do the same thing now with the TWC. I think we can call us all blessed by staff being allowed to issue TWC's right now when an user hasn't posted from a home IP; because I can call numerous staff members who dislike this. I think having a custom rank exaggerates this all too much. In the end there's a part of me that agrees a tiny bit with the staff member who said all those TWC and DNT ranks show signs of a non-safe community, but I also believe it shows signs of a very well protected community. It took a good 2 years but I'm starting to agree more and more with certain individuals who were against me "headhunting" as it's a never ending cycle - however I must also agree with Yousuckv2 who once called the entire userbase a "recycling process". Scammers come and go, in the end there will always be people who abuse the system and rewarding them with once again ANOTHER custom rank might even entertain them. I do still agree we should fight the risks of users scamming each other, however there's a limit.
