[DENIED] Skype button

So i want to suggest for sythe to add a built in skype button next to your profile pic when someone is reading your post.

example:

Ofc the design doesn't have to be this ugly, but you know what i mean . I believe this would greatly reduce imposter scams

My conclusion from replies: The only argument against this is that skype is shit, which i agree, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't reduce risks using it.(Also maybe add a discord button too)

Yeah it'd be helpful but in reality it's a waste of time to add in. Use Hatscript links and if the customer still manages to fuck it up, as well as not ask for a PM then... Well, wow.

 

You'd be surprised if you saw the iq of an average sythe user, and i don't think this would take much time to add

 

No support, besides the fact the button is ugly as fuck I don't believe we should require people to have a Skype button linked to their profile. Not everyone uses Skype aswell, especially now alot of people are shifting from Skype to Discord. Those who want a skype button are free to add this to their profiles/signatures:

well the majority does use it, and i didn't suggest to add the ugly one i posted, someone who can use more than paint(unlike me) can surely make a better one.

 

Agree ^. Waste of coding time that could be spent elsewhere. It's easy enough to use Hatscript and just have it in either your post or signature itself.

Signatures don't show up on mobile unless you hold your phone at a weird angle.

 

Trying to refute one solution that is not ideal strictly for mobile users when there are another 2 solutions perfectly fine for mobile users(in your post/on your profile) isn't really a sound argument if you were trying to persuade other people into supporting this idea.

 

I understand where you're coming from but there is one problem that I see with this.

Say we had the maximum image we could have on our thread, where would our Skype button go? If it went too far down then it could actually interrupt with our thread title for example it could block out this space:


Or it could end up interrupting our profile image which could be an issue.

I mean it seems like a good idea however when suggesting something like this you need to think of the positives + negatives FOR ALL USERS rather than seeing the positives and negatives from only your perspective.

 

I like this idea, don't see why not, if people don't want to add it to their profile they dont have to, but if someone has a ton of impostors then surely adding something that will clean things up and speed the process up of contacting the real user would be nothing but helpful.

And for those saying it would look ugly and not suit sythe, just make a small little button, or even add it to the profile page.

 

This was a thing with vBulletin. See no reason not to add it if possible.

Sythe had this feature previously prior to the forum software transfer. I would love to see this added back if it was an optional addition and not required by everyone. If it was optional it would benefit everyone as it provides another safe and easy way to add other users Skype.

 

i don't want it to be mandatory it wouldn't make any sense, for me as a traded it would be a nice addition to prevent those imposter scums, and i think many other traders would use it as well

 

it doesn't matter where it as aslong it's there and visible for everyone, there are countless spots where it could be put

 

No support, we already have the skype bbc code.. Plus why make the user information area full? It's alright as it is.

 

No support it'd be a waste of dev time, skype isn't the safest of platforms to use, this would only be encouraging the use of it.

 

I miss this feature, was very handy imo. Support if possible/not too much of a hassle to implement. Definitely not needed though as we have the script available to us for threads.
