I think they're awesome personally, highly considering buying myself one instead of having to drop a ridiculous amount of money for a "normal" house. I was looking into why lots of other people don't buy tiny houses and the biggest problem seems to be something called zoning laws making them hard to be legally built for people. Shouldn't be too hard for me to figure it out when the time comes but wow these zoning laws are disgusting for the most part.

What are your thoughts on tiny homes, would you ever consider buying a tiny (under 500 sq feet) home?

I wouldn't buy/build one because I like open space plans and having company over. I appreciate the minimalist lifestyle and think its good for people to not be consumed by materials though. If a person doesnt mind being cramped up in their home, then by all means have fun, but I do think its a bit extreme.

    Pretty much.

500 sq feet which is what i'd look to get which is far from cramped in my eyes but I guess some people just like having an abundance of space which is perfectly fine.

honestly, my gf seems keen on them, and I wouldn't mind living in one.
Would be nice to live in one somewhere nice and quiet; Iceland maybe.

I rent a 1300 sq ft house and it feels cramped lol. I barely have any stuff too, keep it to a minimum.

They are the dopest. Especially when it's functional, modern, and high-tech.

Ergonomic, space-saving and if modernised they can be extremely aesthetic. I wouldn't mind at all living in one by myself (it's larger than my dorm room anyway,) however if I was thinking about living with someone else there may be space issues. I think the main reason people don't go for them in addition to zoning laws is that you dont allow much practicality in regards to anything but sleep/eat/washing there. You can't do anything that requires much space, and it requires for you to be very minimalist with what you own/store. I'm thinking in terms of clothes and general storage. I'm someone who likes to keep all my old electronics to the point where about a third of my wardrobe is just my Playstation 1 related stuff. So what I would say is that you should sure you're committed to a life of owning little and necessarily. How many life-size anime models would the pic related fit?

Id personally rather live in an apartment compared to a big house. A nice flat of course, penthouse to be specific ;).

Keep me updated if you end up getting one, it's honestly a great idea.

    You're crazy.

    Amen.

I wouldn't need very much storage and i'd be pretty creative when it comes to storage, i'm thinking I could store stuff in the stairs? Been watching a few youtube videos featuring tiny homes and that seems to work out well. Besides clothes the only other things I care about is a tv, couch, bed, my 3 monitor set up and having a nice kitchen with a washer/drier. Very simple for the most part, the bed would be on the second floor of course, thinking my price range will be around 30-50k.

Yeh but thinking long term apartments are just not my cup of tea.

I like them. Went on a bit of a tiny house craze a year or two back looking up as much info on them as possible. The minimalist lifestyle is appealing to me. Like you said though, zoning laws are one of the biggest setbacks for them, unfortunately.

Some of the tiny house communities are pretty cool. Like this one:

Just to add though, they're really not the best investment. Though I think they're cool, still better to pay off a small "normal" house instead imo.

These look awesome tbh. As somebody who has no desire for a wife/kids etc. and loves his own place - this would be perfect for me. Not to mention how incredibly efficient and practical they are.

I have seen a few of these that are filled with cool gadgets where the freaking bed comes out of the wall. I would love to have one of these maybe somewhere in the woods. However, for my day to day living i'd feel suffocated as I am a bit claustrophobic.

They're adorable AF but I think the lifestyle isn't for anyone.
If you've ever lived in japan you'd know if that style was for you or not :D
