Without going too into depth, there certainly are ways to get around it. The only way to ensure someone didn't snipe a name or collude to would be to monitor all skype chats, texts, snapchats, and any and all voice communication platforms from the time they are told the name to the time they transfer it. Granted that's overboard and eliminating all doubt, but it's conceivable that all these methods could be used to collude and/or snipe a name.

Usually for name sales, it's best to have one person log into both accounts and do the transfer so that there is no lag time in communication. That being said, someone has to accept responsibility, or responsibility is split. When a deal is made is has to be honored. It's unfortunate the name was sniped, but when you accept responsibility you need to understand that there is a real chance the trade could go wrong and you'll be out the money. I haven't read any of the chatlogs; however, I can tell you from experience that pretty much the only way to prove someone sniped a name is an admission from the guilty party. It's unfortunate, but it's the structure of the market with the high level of proof required. Sinatra, as well as other possible traders in the market reading this, I really urge you to do one, or more, of the following things:

1. Understand that name sales can go south easily. Whether the seller told a lot of people, he told the wrong person, or maybe someone has just been watching it since it got released, names are able to be sniped even if you transfer it very efficiently. Autoclickers on names are a bitch.
2. Understand what accepting responsibility means, and understand the risk associated with it
3. If someone is being sketchy in the way they type, as Sinatra was claiming the seller was, go with your gut feeling and don't do the trade
4. If you're uncomfortable with a trade, get someone like Niki/Basement/Josh who offers do to transfers for a few. They often cover the cost of the name should it be sniped under their service

Basically, be prepared to lost money here and there when making deals. Be careful who you trade with, use a name transfer service if you're uncomfortable. The name sales is one of the sketchiest market in that unlike many other markets, if a name gets sniped you can't prove who did it. So pick carefully who you trade with and if you're willing to accept responsibility
