"Seen" private messages

I don't know if this has been suggested before but I'd like to see sythe have a seen icon of some what when the user u sent the pm to has read it or not it helps in a lot of ways
1) if someone scammed u, you would know that the pm was seen so it helps out in reports
2) just if your waiting for someone to reply on your offer and if u see it's been seen for quite a bit u won't need to be waiting for ever to see if they accept your offer or not
Plus I think it would be pretty cool let me know what you guys think

 

I think this is a pretty good idea, while most people who are scamming won't always check a PM there is a chance they did and it could help seal a faster ban of the scammer.

Your 2nd point I couldn't agree more with

 

I like the idea would make me feel less insecure

 

No like so admins know that the pm has been viewed say your selling a code and someone says they didn't get it it would show that the person viewed it

 

there's more than 1 benefit to the idea

I support this however I think that it should be an option (so you can turn it off if you want to remain private, with it being turned "on" by default). Either way I think it'd be a useful feature to have. Not entirely sure if it's possible on XenForo, though. @Matthew

 

And some people intentionally don't read messages for that fact, technically they aren't lying when they say they didn't see the message.

Support, seems interesting. Maybe set it to ON by default atleast? This way most people will forget about turning it OFF anyways.

 

I agree with wortel or atleast lets make it u need 100 posts to turn it off.

 

This used to be an option before the switch over to Xenforo iirc, not sure if its still possible. It was something that had to be manually selected each time you wanted to use it, but it essentially tracked your PM. It was a useful feature in some instances, I'd support seeing if it can be re-added now

No specific number of supports will guarantee a suggestion be implemented, although the more support a suggestion receives from the community the higher the chances are that Matthew or Sythe will decide if they want/can implement.

I'm indifferent because I hardly use PMs other than for skype confirmation.

 

It should be noted that it's relatively easy to determine if someone has had a chance to read your PM based on their last activity. I still think this tool would be useful, but if they have been online and active since you've sent the PM, you can be pretty sure they're not interested or are ignoring you
