Do you transfer every duplicate you get to Oak?

 

That's a smart move, i should have saved my star dust as i didnt know what i was doing

 

Just caught multiple dratinis, some seals, and a jolton

 

Do you just start getting those high cp Pokemon when you get higher lvl?

 

You still see a bunch of low level ones, but yeah, you start seeing high cp ones as well

I like to keep at least 3 of each type of pokemon I have, and transfer the rest for the candies. The only exception is that I started to keep ~10 Rattata's and Pidgeys and I'm planning on popping a lucky egg and evolving them all once I get enough candies. I don't bother about evolving Pideotto -> Pidgeot since you get the same amount of exp for using way way way more candies.

I feel like my Pokemon are all weak as shit, but for the time being I'm trying to grind out as high of a level as possible without using my stardust.

Just hit level 17. I'm on the same boat as @FlyingToast. I'm just grinding out exp and could give a fuck less about my pokemon right now. I don't use any stardust and priortize pidgey over anything else (unless I haven't caught it yet cuz 600exp for new catches).

The way I see it, all those "high level" pokemon right now will be worthless in ~3 levels. So why bother using stardust/hunting them?

 

@Shall SKill Let's test it out. Do you consider a 924 Flareon to be worthless? That's what I got when I was level 13 and you're level 17. Sometimes you can train things pretty well in my opinion. I'm always constantly getting a supply of stardust so having a surplus means nothing if you aren't trying to actually catch and power up something. You gotta remember that saving your stardust doesn't mean much since the mechanics of the game with the CP cap based on your avatar's level counters that. You can basically max out your Pokemon at lower levels and just dominate gyms with Pokemon CP 400-700+ over you.

 

In my area, yeah a 924 flareon is useless. Without using a single stardust I have a ~1300cp arcanine (pokemon types aside). My girlfriend used all her stardust on a cp400, and then ended up catching a cp900 in the wild of the same pokemon. So where'd the stardust go? Was it wasted? In my opinion, yea

I intend on using my stardust when I naturally encounter 1) a pokemon type not found often in my area to defend bases better and 2) when I've gotten to the level cap where ridiculous amount of experience are needed to reach the next level, so I can use their strength in all aspects for a longer period of time.

 

I have these ones for now, I'm planning on restarting once the game is out officially in Europe.

 

Damn it must be different on a campus. I haven't played this on campus yet, just in the suburbs of South Florida, so I actually gotta go pretty far for Pokestops unless I'm in like a town center or something. Wonder how I'll match up against other people when I get back on campus.
