Shows how corrupt bankers are, the rich playing dirty to get richer. Also, how is it that only 1 man could predict the outcome? Where are all these other economists with their PhD's?

    Anyone seen The Big Short?

    Spoilers incoming

It was explained at the very beginning, nobody looked at the housing market as a bubble. There was too much shit to go through to prove it, with added disinterest on top of that. That one guy went through it on a hunch because he's autistic or whatever, turns out he was right.

Very interesting movie, wish they would have explained the whole picture. Then again, the director is a huge Bernie fan.

Watched it back in December, and really enjoyed it. I went into it not knowing a whole lot about the housing bubble but still managed to follow everything that went on, so I think that the film did a good job in that regards.

I don't exactly remember what the ending text was, but
I was pretty disappointed and angry with how it ended, not because of anything the movie did wrong, but because those things weren't fictional and actually happened - I think Brad Pitt's little talk as they were leaving the casino did a good job of setting that kind of tone for how things ended up playing out. Also, what was up with Ryan Gosling's hair? =@

It's a decent movie, but it omits Bill Clinton's role (the cause) in the GFC, specifically his National Homeownership Strategy.

When you push for more easily accessible credit for those who have an increased probability of being unable to pay it back... bad things happen. Worst of all, there was even more than just the issuing of subprime mortgages. A lot of people might take away the corruptness of the bankers, regulators, etc. This is known however, people will always try to exploit the 'system', especially when you abstract away from the morally dubious nature of their actions (taking money from an elderly ladies pocket is different from say exposing a large sum of money, part of it being her life-savings, in a financial instrument that has a triple A credit rating...). This type of behaviour or corruption should be expected, it is a given. People shouldn't be upset that humans are sometimes bad or stupid, that's a given, they should be upset about the government policies that allow situations like this to occur. You might categorize what happened as an 'unintended consequence', but really it's quite an obvious consequence, and if Sanders get's elected, ya'll will really 'feel the bern' when down the line these 'unintended consequences' materialize.

I really did find it unfortunate that the movie didn't mention what caused mortgage brokers to lax their standards, maybe then more people would've realized that your parents were right in saying that: "there's no such thing as a free lunch".

It's alright I guess, trying to show the story in an understandable and funny way.
I liked Inside job better though, a good documentary about the same financial crisis.

They addressed it by saying "Republicans blamed the housing crisis on minorities, but this isn't true" which alludes to the whole Clinton pushing banks to approve more minorities to get houses . But the director is a big Bernie Sanders supporter, so unfortunate that he can't own up to the full story.
