    Any Mathematicians In The House?

Hello, I have been using sythe for a while and have met a lot of incredible people. I have always wondered if there were any math people on here, as I am in love with mathematics. I very rarely get to talk to people who understand what I am talking about when it comes to the subject and I find that to be very disappointing. I am a freshman undergraduate currently, but I created a conjecture in advanced combinatorics when I was 17 when I started to teach myself. If anyone else is out and would like to talk about some stuff, pm me!

EDIT: The conjecture is in advanced combinatorics and is about complete Bell Polynomials. I am not going to release too much information on it because it is still not published, but I did ask for a proof on math stackexchange if anyone is a math geek like me. My username on there is the same as on here if you guys want to check it out :p

Mad respect to pure mathematicians. A couple of my friends (all now at UChicago) were mainly math/physics prodigies and I tangentially would experience a lot of their successes in high school mathematics. Not that I was interested in it, but I definitely appreciated it.

What was the conjecture? I'm working through some of these problems with a few of my friends in prep for the 2016 contest, and as we're all 16-18 would be cool to see what someone of our age came up with!

Apparently the game No Man's Sky was created with advanced math. And I'm feeling the shift towards flat mathematical logic as the future of my field. I'm going to go to school and and take every math class available in preparation for the future.

I've always loved math. Loved it through school, loved it through college, not so much in uni.... But that was just because it was a ball ache. But now I love it again. I'm a civil engineer, so I do math a lot in my job.

I liked math. I was very bright in school when I was young. I was one of those people who could answer something really quick but usually couldn't explain myself well enough as to how I got my answer. I'll never forget the time where I was asked a problem, and I am pretty sure I blurted out nonsense when I saw the faces of my classmates. More of a mental guy really. Started hating it as I went into Uni.

Math tends to be my favorite subject. I spent four years in the Army, so I'm just now getting to go to college. I'm currently taking Cal 1 and University Physics 1 together along with some other classes. These have really catalysed a yearning desire to learn more. After all math is the universal language.

I enjoy mathematics, more specifically that used in engineering such as calculus and numerical methods but can appreciate more theoretical forms as well.

Yes, I'm a mathematician. I've mastered the 12 timetables, and am also well versed in addition, subtraction and division. At the moment I'm learning BEDMAS which is very sophisticated.

I actually had to look up "BEDMAS" because I'd never heard of it before. Turns out it's just the order in which you do mathematical operations. In the US we have "PEMDAS" which is literally the same thing.

I strongly agree with the application of math. Had little to no interest as I went though my Calculus, Linear Algebra, and differential equation classes. Once I started to encounter the applications of these though in engineering courses, I came to appreciate, and gained a deeper understanding of the mathematical theories.

Funnily enough I learned it as PEDMAS too in Canada because I learned all my sciences and maths in French until grade 7.

Math has always been the subject I liked the most and was the easiest for me to study and learn, that's also why I now study financial mathematics at uni, quite harder than in high school but very useful when you understand it.

I've been known to math occasionally. Mostly discrete mathematics seeing as I'm in computer science, but we're always using induction/contradiction and recurrence relations/recursion so discrete math at least has become almost a second nature. Didn't do calculus too far but did levels I and II, as well as a couple classes on linear algebra and a stats class. Not a huge fan of math but it would be silly to deny its usefulness.

I honestly love theoretical mathematics because it's mostly the concepts that are amazing to me. Applicable mathematics, to me, is kinda just like "hey look what I can do to be a slave at a job" kinda thing. But I love viewing mathematics as a puzzle or game instead of as homework

Wow c'est completement ma situation aussi, j'ai pris mes classes de maths + autre choses en Francais jusqu'en huitième année, pi après ca c'était l'immersion francaise fait que j'avais plusieurs classes en Anglais, en incluant les maths.

You'd do well as an academic
