Suggestion on name changes!

Dear Sythe users,

My name is Vladas, I am known as Vl4d4s on other forums. Some other people my know my website better than me - www.food4rs.com.

Today I would like to suggest allowing name changes not only to staff members but for simple users as well if they have a good reason for that. To stop people applying for it and trying their luck with non-sense reasons I would suggest introducing fee for such service. The amount could set by staff.

This way forum could collect more money together with donations and also people who really want to have their name changed would get a chance.

This is a suggestion that I wanted to make for a long time - same as changing my username - because I am known as Vl4d4s on all other forums. I am happy to pay $1000 to change it to Vl4d4s. I have my username on Sythe for like 8 years and when I created it did not mean anything for me but I don't like my current username as it reminds me times when I was stupid kid and used by current username I have contacted Sythe about it and he told me to put it as a suggestion on this forum.

I will wait for you support guys! I am sure I am not the only one who has ran into similar problem!

P.S. I know that this thing is already on "The DO NOT SUGGEST list" but I was suggested by Sythe himself to make this suggestion.

I've seen this implemented successfully on other forums. They'll allow one username change per 365 day period but it does not affect their log-in details, just their display name.

The only problem I see arising from this is that the site already has more than enough scammers, spammers, vaders and impostors. Allowing them an opportunity to make it easier to conceal their true identity or confuse others in this way could lead to some seriously sticky situations...

 

If, and only if, all of the following are implemented:
$200+ donor perk
SVU only
2FA only
One name change per account, ever.

Along with possibly some sort "Formerly [old username]" mandatory title in their signature or username for a pre-defined amount of time.

 

Support these requirements and maybe more.

 

I just want to capitalize my name

 

Would make more sense as a UT because they already meet requirements as a $200 donor

 

I agree I really like the idea of being able to change your name at least once. I think maybe $100 donation though not $200 simply because there is a small percent of $200, I think a lot more people would donate up to $100 just to change name.

 

I'm well supportive of the notion.

I'd be willing to be a 100 dollar donator to change my name, I currently have no idea why I chose my current name and desire to change it...

Too many people would be eligible for a name change, and it would be annoying to see all the different usernames.

 

Personally I like Blade's requirements, but they would have to sacrifice their UT to "Previously named: ______"

This is a good suggestion for people that don't like their names and are proven to be trustworthy users.

 

I would love to capitalize my name aswell.

 

I'll support this, but it should be added that other factors should be considered. Like reputation on the forums, as well as join date. That would obviously be up to the discretion of the staff, but I'm sure they would be reasonable when making the decision.

 

I support name change with the condition of:

At least 2 years in Sythe
$300+ Donor
SVU
Has a horrible name/Has a good reason
Must have "Used to be ..." for at least 1 month in user title.
