[HELP] $250 Chargeback via Amazon

Hey guys, I'm going to make a quick post because I have class in 10 minutes. But I recently got chargeback'd $250 via Amazon GC (5 $50 increments) via OSRS gold. Is there anyway I can still win this case? If so, what is the best way to do so? I have already contacted customer service and they sent the information pertaining to the situation, but I'm honestly not sure what else to do.

Not saying it 100% works but there is a EBook on it i seen, dont know if that will help, but surely if you just provided proof you sold it then you will get your money back?

They most likely did this by doing a credit card chargeback against amazon, unless you have any ID from them or a IP address there is very little you can do, sorry for your loss :/

 

What they did was file for a stolen gift card. There's no way you can win if they paid in gp, no proof of purchase. Sorry bud.

I did track his IP from Skype though. and based on the IP, I asked if he lived at the current state where the IP was located , and he said yeah.

 

Supply this information about his IP to amazon, they will be able to see if it matches the purchase information, then pass it on to the credit card company and if it matches his home location, you will win the chargeback. Goodluck!

 

How in the world do you chargeback a giftcard?

If it was an e-giftcard, most likely it's gone. Your fighting a losing battle here and I doubt that you would win.

If you want to accept Amazon giftcards, always accept the physical ones because those ones are almost impossible to charge back.

 

@ Bus, I honestly have no idea.. I guess e-gift cards are easily chargebackable.. now I'm just waiting for Amazon to email me back :/

 

If I call amazon, would it be safe if I tell them that I bought the cards via Virtual Goods? or is that something that they don't allow?

@Josh0, do you really think OP is going to go to court against Amazon over $250 when he was selling gold through their site?.................................

 

It is not court. However, if this happened to me I would be pushing the seller into an arbitration meeting with Amazon. Also, you best believe I would file a subpoena through law enforcement for all information that amazon has on the seller. Such as previous listed address, link credit cards, ip history etc. Even if you don't win you can make the scammers life hell.

Absolutely. It's about more than $250. This guy is scum, and if you really want to, you can probably make him deeply regret his decision. Follow what Josh said, it will be a good learning experience for you.

 

Does anyone know if you can avoid problems like this by using the gift cards, or parts of their balances, as you buy them? As in, can you buy a $100 giftcard, spend a few bucks (x) of it to prevent the seller from charging back the card, and use the rest at a later date without threat of losing 100 - x in the future? Someone did the same exact thing Hubba's describing and it would be good if we can avoid that in the future. Sorry man :/

 

@OP A $250 chargeback, that is really rough. Sorry to hear about that.

Gift cards are tough, because they are impossible to trace back to individuals due to their anonymity. We have special ways of dealing with them at PA, but for regular traders, I understand it can be quite an "item of trust" to accept a gift card payment from someone.
