Is Skrill safe to use?

I would like to start using other than PP because they stole alot of money from me and i hate PP.. Anyways.. Id like to start a shop (not only swapping) and would like to use skrill. Is it safe with anybody? Whats the problems with using it if there is some? Is there any possibilities of chargeback or something that the buyer could do and i would lose money?

There is always the possibility of chargebacks. However, it's not as easily done as paypal.

 

It is but takes a while to setup. Every company has their good and bads.

 

Its safe to use yes, the same why paypal is safe to use. It's however known to be more reliable and in favour of sellers in instances of chargebacks and fraud.

 

Yep pretty save ive used it for about 2 years now and ive had no problem only thing is someone can pay you and call there bank and say the payment was unauthorized then that is where problems arise.

You'll always run into stolen accounts here and there.

However, from experience I discovered that most Skrill users don't fuck around with the process. Although, it's not as widely used as Paypal and some users are reluctant to use the service due to all the verification required.

 

Technically is no safer than PayPal, just PayPal is much more bigger than Skrill so it is targeted by fraudsters more. Also if you're in the USA they don't accept gold sales and will close your account.

 

Technically Skrill is definitely safer than Paypal. It requires more verification and has much lower fraud than Paypal.

 

It requires a lot of verification to load funds etc but after you have funds in the account your account can get stolen just like with PayPal, just not as popular. But yea if you accept Skrill you will definitely see less or no chargebacks.

To answer OP's questions, there is a possibility of chargeback with every payment method that accepets credit cards, including Skrill but you will definitely see less chargebacks if any. Your second questions depends on what you mean by "better".

 

Thanks you for all the answers. I am from canada so i shouldnt have problems. Also, i had alot of problems with paypal thats why i asked if skrill was better.

You will lose since most likely if it happens will be unauthorized or stolen credit card.

You pretty much have to wait until they release the funds if I'm right.
Don't use skrill myself, heard that from MMORPG a while back so could be wrong.

 

Skrill (formerly Moneybookers) got their start in processing payments in the e-Gambling industry.

They essentially got their start processing in the e-Commerce industry. From the gambling side (which they have been distancing themselves from), they got into virtual asset transactions primarily for Europe.

A little bit of history, but PayPal largely got their start from the RMT industry as well. For two years, we were their largest client prior to eBay purchasing them. Once this happened, PayPal's focused shifted to tangible payments, and they became less focused on supporting digital asset exchange.

This however never happened with Skrill, and they continue to be supportive of the RMT industry. That being said, they will still consider you a high risk merchant, and will therefore charge you very high fees, and there is still the risk of chargeback, but they are still much better in being able to handle fraud for this industry than PP.

As for spending limits/receivables, there can be limits depending on the type of account you are approved for. And if your volume/chargeback ratio meet certain thresholds, then you may be required to have a "reserve" on your account to continue transacting (a holdback reserve of funds which they hold on to as a security. Kind of like a deposit). At PA you won't need to worry about any of that.

I've used Skrill a few times and never had a problem personally. I've only used it for buying with, never for accepting with. I think you should be safe.

Skrill is not chargebackable, that's why I consider it nice
Also very easy to withdraw money in Europe - you can use their mastercard

 

Definitely my go-to method of transferring funds online!
