Opening our custom IP search database to the public...

With this feature on. All the users can see the vaders and banned users. Are they still gonna report them in scam report section listing proof as this: I have used that IP search tool. Or else, We pm a mod that someone is a scammer when we found that.

 

I do reckon it would be very useful but then again it could cause confusion between people if someone has the same IP for some reason.

It's a lot of un needed hassle but could benefit everyone, a lot.

 

Since I have dynamic IP and I'm sure I'm not the only one, other members will come up with my IP as well and that would make trading harder for us once people see that, would there be anyway to let them know that we are not ban evaders?

Well they aren't all from him most likely. But anyways, some are. And thats normal, he probably uses the accounts to test the forums. He probably has accounts with different rights etc in the database so he can check multiple usercases.

How about some sort of requirement?

A certain donation level, or posts/Join date? I feel like not everyone should have access to this, anyone could come in, make an account and get the IP of someone.

 

It doesn't show the full IP only the last 3 numbers.

Really like this update. If you could make it so we can search Ip's like someone said and see if they are linked to any banned accounts that would be nice. Thanks for trying to make trading safer. As someone who uses the market a bit I appreciate it.

 

Its limited to the last 3 numbers. And even if it where the last six or nine their wouldn't really be a problem
So don't worry about your safety, nothing can be done with this data to harm you. (Unless they could crack into the database through injection and force out all the IP's or something..)

If you read above it says that because of coffee shops and other places where it is possible for people to be on your IP every account that shows up may not be you.

 

I searched mine and got like 30 different IP's I have logged in prob due to being dynamic but this also came up

Oh okay I just hope this isn't used as evidence to ban people for ban evading.

 

I don't understand how that is relevant if it was evidence to ban someone for ban evading the staff would have done it already. They have had access to all this information.

Obviously they have access to it yes but they don't systematically check through every single user, they only do it if there is a cause for concern, I'm guessing.
