The future of Rs Gambling/Gold prices

Well as many of you know Jagex wanted to 'fight' the gambling community, but as good as Jagex is *insert sarcasm here* it has taken them a while before even saying anything about patching gambling. I looked through the forums and found a post Mod Mark had and I quote "Just a few comments from me on some of the points you have raised:

Yes, I did state that we were working on some content to deal with the "mobile gambling devices" (like flowers, eggs, seal emotes etc) that players use. And we are! There is clearly an appetite for high risk gameplay within RuneScape, and I want to ensure we are giving people safer alternatives when we remove things like the flower gambling from the game.

Please note that any alternative games we add will only involve ingame gold or items, not real world cash.

New Skills in 2013

We are already working on the first new skill. I am hoping that we will have it ingame before the summer. its going to be a "gathering" skill like fishing or mining.

My thought on this... for one in my opinion it will ruin the economy (as far as rares/nex/spirit shields go) why? because every host has atleast one, (and most have quite a few rares) Why do I think all that will crash a bit in game, because there will be supply, but no demand (flower hosts/people betting for rares etc) and as far as gp prices... I really can see them lowering to .10-.19. I just wanted to see others opinions, but please keep it mature, discuss and don't flame. Thanks.

With gambling, if they remove it, the big clans will still survive with IRC dice, an I can't see them banning hosts for that. However, gambling only re-circulates gold, none is actually lost. With the new resourcing skill, I can see the prices for items crashing straight away, purely because of the mass amount that will be sold. It may be worth keeping them incase they release a sister skill that uses the items, as then the prices will skyrocket. None of this will affect gp price, as that's purely based on supply/demand, the other things only slightly influence it.

 

but why would players bet on hosts when they can be 50/50 with an alternative that Jagex is going to provide? I highly doubt people would reject the 50/50 for a 45% chance of winning on a sketchy irc?

 

If they seriously replaced gambling with something stupid, like Yelps Flower Game, it will probably be 10% of what gamblers usually make, and it will be a wasted effort.

 

Gambling has already gone too far. Its too late to change anything

 

Maybe its just another post by Jagex to make people believe in changes or it is real one who knows.. I mean it's Jagex so noone knows if its true or not.

I see it as an announcement like the EOC (when we had beta) that it would come... just didn't know when.. but I'm sure they'll pull this through late this year.. or beginning of the next year (if not earlier)

What's the question here or discussed statement? If it's Jagex introducing their own gambling system, I doubt it will ever happen. Will be quite contradictory to incentivise and motivate gambling for children when there no.1 priority is the safety of their players, as they say. Wouldn't go to well with parents of the younger players (8/9/10 etc).

 

If Jagex had ANY sense at all, they would go to the big clans, Dragon Dyce, Fishy, Cora etc, and warn the hosts and the owners to stop it or get banned and wipe there money, and go undercover on there websites or something....
I bet this would eliminate at LEAST 50% gamblers (apart from duel arena)
I wouldn't want to place a bet with some-one I don't feel 99% safe with.

 

The IRC dicing isn't sketchy, thats the thing, it's completely random, as if you look some hosts have lost huge bets they've done.


I bet jagex won't take fees for doing it, so it'll ruin dice clans. :3

 

The IRC dicing isnt sketchy? players make the script, yes its random, but it can be rigged (on big bets)not saying the biggest dice irc clan will, but alot of the others would

 

^but that's why you only gamble at the bigger dice clans. They have MUCH more to loose if their bot is rigged for one bet / big bets since then there will be no bets. Trust is the #1 thing necessary for making money

Anyway, I hope Jagex takes their sweet time with this update, if it happens at all, but I've accepted that I'll need to hang up my gambling gloves one day.

That's like saying bet on the #1 flower clan in w2 and guarantee you won't get scammed, if we find out or not, the irc could be rigged, but no way of telling lol

 

*sigh* alright haha. I happen to be a rank in a large w2 friends gambling chat and it always annoys me when people say the IRC is rigged since my stats show me to be more than 5b down soooo

ATM, since I've had a bad month, my HOSTING stats are negative as well (for the few vs host games that we offer) I don't see how the irc can be rigged if ranks are loosing tons if money in it everyday, but okay.
