Ancient Aliens: Real or Ridiculous?

Say that your just in spacestage, cruising around, when you suddenly notice a little tribal planet. You fly over the planet, and you might fry and few villigers and such, and decide to leave a monolith before you leave, uplifting thier species. What exactly would those tribal people thinks of you? Would they perhaps even worship you, creating myths and statues of you and your technology?

Some people seem to think this type of situation actually happened on earth, in what is called the "ancient alien theory". These guys prupose that many of our ancient structures and religions are based on alien visitation. After seeing a few episodes of the shows of "Ancient Aliens" on history channel, I was wondering what your thoughts were on the subject. Stories of gods who came from the sky, uplifted humanity, and then left, promising to return. An example is the mesopotamian gods called the Annunaki, whose name translates to "those who cae from the heavens

Giant flying devices in Indian stories called Vimana, which have powers and abilities attributed to modern weapons and UFOs

so, Do you think we were visited by aliens? Or is the theory proposed by these guy lunacy? I personally find a few of these things somewhat convincing, but think there are more reasonable explanations for much of what they propose on the show. However, I'm only one opinion, and the odds of a civilization far more advanced than us out there are good.

 

I didn't read too much of this thread, but if most of us can agree that we may not be alone, then who's to say who's more advanced than the other. For example, we could have been in Mayan times, and another life-form might have been out there that was far more advanced than us at the time.

We have evolved and advanced in areas such as space travel so I definitely wouldn't say it's impossible that someone (Or something) else could have visited earth, or any other planets. Maybe somewhere out there, they don't have the debate of whether or not "Aliens exist" because they know of our foreign existence now. Maybe 1,000 years from now we'll be the aliens.

I've also seen a lot of strange wall markings and glyphs that would assume the presence of aliens, but those could be story books for all we know.

Edit: I will say this: If aliens do indeed exist, they definitely aren't some new life form by any means.

 

I find it somewhat hilarious that barely anyone ever considers the existence of non-intelligent alien life-forms...

 

It's always been in our nature to believe that we have been visited by an et species, because we want to believe that we're not alone. Back in the 1950>1990's ppl went crazy with alien reports & pictures xD, as did hollywood. Today in 2013, i think we all realise that we've never been visited by any spaceships during that time.

I personally also found it fascinating to look at grain circles & watch ufo(associated with aliens) reports back when i was still a kid, but as i got older i realised it was all just a hype. I think it's safe to say we're not alone in this universe, there is probably life out there, whether it are microbes, tiny organisms or actual organic "creatures".

 

This. In the entire galaxy we can't be the only planet with life in it.

Most of us would agree that we are not alone, and never will be, possibly in historic times they could have existed on this planet, they might be gone now, might be not, to many conspiracies going on for us to truly know what has happened in the past, and what will happen in the future of mankind.

 

It's always a "possibility", but honestly there is absolutely NO EVIDENCE to suggest that space fairing beings visited us.

What people seem to forget is just how massive space is, and that our little blue planet would for some reason gain attention out of the trillions on the cosmic scale? And leave absolutely 0 evidence of their arrival? Unlikely.

Lack of evidence is not evidence, go back to watching your weird haired alien bullshit shows.

 

You universe is infinite, with billions*billions*billions*billions*99999999999999 planets, I would bet money theres life form out there, and that our planet has been visited, maybe they're really small lol or on there planet, they was much more technology advanced 5k+ years ago that we currently are.

Obviously they will probably not look like humans or speak or fuction at all, but they will still be intelligent life forms.

No, I don't believe in ancient aliens. First because there is no evidence of them, none at all. People take bits and pieces of information and say that it is proof of ancient aliens when in fact they're just making wild guesses and the information most of the time is taken out of context.

Now, non-intelligent alien lifeforms are incredibly likely. We have found fossils of non-intelligent microbes, but they don't have the conditions needed to evolve.

 

Too much of their proof is completely tangental to the supposed evidence and is more or less a leap of faith than an actual solid conclusion so yes its ridiculous.

 

I definitely believe in other lifeforms within our universe, I mean, it's a given, but not sure about Ancient Aliens, watched a few of the episodes on TV and seemed slightly ridiculous to me.

We have explored an extremely small part of space... Who's to say there is no such life billions and billions of light years away?
There could be another planet just like earth with people/aliens exploring their side of space. Just we could be so far apart that we will never find each other.

There's no proof that there are aliens.
However there is no proof that there aren't, as if you want to prove there isn't you'd have to explore every single planet in space.

 

Awhile back I posted a few theories on norse mythology (I'm an Odinist meaning I worship the Norse Gods), one of the theories I went into was exactly this. I do not "believe" the theory, but I DO believe it is possible. such as the norse gods, namely in this example, thor, had a hammer that shot out lasers/lightning bolts. The american government/millitary has been proven (through leaks) to now have weapons similar (guns that shoot lasers, death rays, etc), so it is POSSIBLE the god Thor was a member of a highly advanced race of humanoid aliens with weapons of the likes we are just now creating.

Of course, I went into many more theories, such as the theory of the Norse apocalypse, Ragnarok, already happening and the christian religion starting where the Norse mythology left off. It was said after ragnarok the earth would be covered in water and the remaining gods would meet, and that the only 2 survivors on earth would repopulate the world (this possibly being Adam & Eve in the bible).

Many things are possible, and even if you don't believe a theory, I think you should always keep your mind open that there IS a possibility that thats how it happened..

 

Im very tempted to just post the "Aliens" Guy. However one thing that does pique my interest was that europeon or turkish map, I forget that had the entire earth on paper before the expeditions and voyages fully came about.

Just about every damn day. I wasn't a listener back in the 90's, but I've downloaded all his shows and watch them at my convenience. I like Somewhere in Time, and the whole series of shows about Mel's Hole. Not because I believe in Mel's hole, but it's interesting.

Oh yes I have watched all of the episodes in this series I find them entertaining and very well narrated, the guests are very interesting but obviously you shouldn't take it seriously.. it would be extremely arrogant and egocentric to assume that superior lifeforms have such an interest and involvement with our primitive planet.
