P.o.P. Gear and the end of non degradable Gear? Rivals Torva?

So it looks like the new PoP armor will also be a degradable set of gear. It also looks like it will rival Torva with identical stats except Torva comes with boots and gloves. Was bandos the last and most affordable/best Non-Degradable set of gear? Are they trying to implement the MMO style of repairing your gear often so you can continue using it in raids/quests as they do in many MMO's? Will they eventually add a level 70 def non degradable set of gear?

I sure hope so as degradable gear is a hassle that im sure no one enjoys, I really excited for these PoP and the new armour, and can't wait to try it out myself during break.

 

I wouldn't mind repairs if they where petty amounts to repair. Its ridiculously expensive to repair this Degradable gear they have. I don't think I'd go past 50 defense let alone 65 defense just cause I don't want my wallet to be empty on repairs alone.

 

yeah, i stick with bando's personally, but i think i may have to end up switching to Torva gear as i try to get a complentionist cape as fast as possible.

 

I suggest that everyone waits until PoP is released because you know people will panic and another crash may happen on top of EoC. A lot of people freaked on Obsidion Armor but luckily the gear is only effective in that given area. Who knows how much Torva will drop if at all when people have access to gear just as great but won through a mini-game.

Also some people don't skill so they might not be able to access pop, torva may not drop too much.

 

yeah you need 90+ in a bunch of skills such as fishing, rc, and others.

 

Oh haha really my bad I'm out on tour and don't head back home till tomorrow morning. I didn't think they would release something this big so soon, then again they are trying to get there old members back I guess.

Looks like torva has crashed 50-100m per item so far, and I'm sure most torva owners are well funded accounts with the skills required for PoP gear anyways.

 

Unlike torva and stuff you can just go and get drops with, this is going to be pretty time consuming. You have to get like 12 scrolls to make the armor set(at minimum?) and then you have to collect all the pieces and crap; on top of that you need a bunch of high skills to get the most out of everything(with the materials and all being unassistable/untradeable). We probably won't see any sets for a few weeks, even then probably lucky people.

With all of this effort required to get this, I wonder how much the first few sets of tradeable will cost(the ones that turn to dust after full use instead of the repairable/superior sets). You know how crazy people will pay for new items/item sets.

 

The trade-able version degrades after 12 hours and is permanently destroyed.

The untrade-able enhanced version degrades after 12 hours however it is repairable.

 

You also can't pvp in the new gear, or so I have heard.

 

The non-tradeable version can be repaired, so it's rather similar to torva, except this has to be earnt, so it'll be a lot more rare/treasured than torva.

Costs to repair at 99 smithing
- Legs - 600k
- Helm - 300k
- Body - 1200k

This is needed every 12 hours of combat, costing 2100k for the whole set. (That's just the melee set)

 

I chose not to read anyone elses posts so forgive me if I'm just repeating what another has said but Im not in a reading mood today, but I'd just like to say that the PoP melee armor has better stats than torva, not equal to. And lasts for 12 hours of combat and is repairable for 1.2m at 99 smithing. true it doesnt have gloves/boots but just get torva gloves/boots instead to make it the ultimate set of armor currently in RS.

As for 70 gear, there is none that doesnt degrade. and I doubt they will add one, but if degrading gear isnt your thing, just keep hoping i suppose.

 

Price of set?

 

Since it's untradeable and requires alot of time/effort to get (and is the best gear in the game), this might become a big factor determining how much a high level account is worth on sythe. Definitely looking forward on more info on PoP.

I don't think so, but you never know. I think the tradeable version has probably been made, but the better one won't have.

 

Scroll voyages are rare, and difficult to complete without crashing, you can get one per day, it takes 100 of these done successfully just for the platebody.

 

For for the platelegs alone, you will need 60 plates to make. And 1 Special voyages do reward you with 1 or 2 plate. Those resources are very time-consuming to get.

And that's after you completed the scroll voyages which unlocks the ability to smith the part.

Not sure about any other way to get those resources. Maybe we can trade it with something else within the game mechanics.
