Opinions on dating in Runescape?

I don't think I would be against it...but as I am already in a relationship, I have never looked at rs as a place to meet girls, and never will...

BUT if they do end up meeting on rs and falling in love, than what can I say about it? Everyone has to meet somehow...Who knows, could be a funny story to tell later on..Especially since by the time they have been married for 10-20 years, games will be a lot more mainstream than they already are....

I think it's at least worth considering. I have known a few people on RS and later found out that they lived quite near me in real life. I would just emphasize that it should be realistic or attainable e.g. there is a good chance you can make it work IRL.

 

I think that if you can prove it's a member of the opposite sex, and you click,it is fine, since you're still interacting/bonding with that person.
I know a guy who met his wife now on WoW they've been married for almost 3 years, she moved from Oregon to Ohio to live with him. I haven't talked to him for awhile but i'm sure they are doing just fine, seeing as they both have a degree in Biochemistry and work at the same place, i'm sure they get along very well.

 

I personally find it a bit weird, but it is what it is, can't control who you fall in love with.

I think it is pretty ridiculous and silly when people get really involved in E-dating these days. It used to be different back in RuneScape classic, where having a "wife" or something in the game was kind of like a form of role playing, and wasn't anything serious that really translated into anything outside of the game. I remember attending numerous weddings for high leveled or highly respected players. It was more fun than anything else.

I highly doubt I would ever date anybody that I met through RuneScape, but I wouldn't completely rule it out. If there is anything I have learned from this past year sitting on Sythe/the computer, it is that you can form that really great relationships with people online. You never know if one of them might be of the opposite sex and what could come out of it I even have a good friend on RS who met his current girlfriend through RuneScape.. he flew out to England to meet her after a few months of Skyping and calling each other, and they have been happily dating for just over 2 years now. I guess you never know where you will find love

 

I don't think people should be so quick to judge anyone who gets involved in a relationship with someone they met on RuneScape. I've been with my girlfriend for nearly 20 months and I happened to meet her in a random game of Barbarian Assault. I had no intentions of "dating" her at first; one thing just led to another and we talked for hours every day. We live on opposite ends of the country.

She flew out to see me for a week last year in March. We got along great, so we met up again in May and spent the entire summer together. The last time I saw her was in December for the holidays. I'm flying out to see her again next Saturday, the 16th, and I will be staying with her for over a month. The distance can be beyond painful, but I know it's only temporary since we are both still in college/university.

There are tons of completely normal and fantastic people who play RuneScape. Online dating is becoming extremely popular. My brother met his girlfriend online, and they currently live together. One of my friends met his wife on Facebook. If you simply don't want to be in a long distance relationship, that's fine and understandable. But don't shy away from online relationships only because you think they are weird/creepy/for losers, etc.

 

Dating over an mmo like Runescape is just retarded.

 

I met a girl through runescape, years ago now. We ended up meeting in real life, found out that we didn't have all that much in common. Now I rarely talk with her. It was fun while it lasted.

I think it's silly, especially considering the majority of runescape players aren't adults yet. Meeting someone at runefest and then dating them, sure, still a bit nerdy, but acceptable. Meeting them online entirely without ever meeting them? That's a bit creepy considering you don't even know who the other person is behind their screen.

I personally would never do it, but I guess a bunch of people do which is why Jagex finds it necessary to add "This is not a dating site." to quick chat.

That's the kind of dating that I find ludicrous (dating on-site/never meeting online). However, I'm supportive of the gamers who have met someone while playing Runescape and later they meet at Runefest/in person. Eventually, if things work out between the two, they might be steadily dating and get married. It's not something I could ever see myself doing...but it still makes me happy to hear about stories like that.

No way I'd ever do this, not just because it's on Runescape. I wouldn't use any form of internet dating, I don't think it's right, you can't interact with someone properly over a computer screen imo.
