Sure. You should really just set up a Wiki though.

Both. Basically, I think SuF had a project earlier on where he created a thread compilation of FAQs, but a Wiki page would allow us to have a page about everything, and then have a "tutorial" landing page which would describe Sythe and have links to all the Wiki pages.


Anyway, I was thinking something like this would work out for new users:



People would stay within that box, click around, go back, and the questions/answers will be obvious and fast/easy to read rather than looking like a manual to your electronics you just throw away. Comments?

I'm glad this is happening. I was about to make a post asking how to become trusted enough to sell an account (and what to do in order to sell an account). A wiki would be really helpful.

I'd be perfectly happy with that setup. Or we could just be simple and make it a thread and PM all new users a welcome PM that includes that sort of information.

Majority of the content could be pulled from SuF's Sythe FAQ to be honest. Then get iJava and Sellerman to fill in the blanks.

 

I could set up a contest or we could do some collaboratively (that rarely works well though).

 

I'm in favor of a run-on thread so to speak, whomever is in charge posts what they've done and what they need...any user can throw his/her two cents in so long as it's regarding a tweak to the content provided. Depending on how long Sythe plans on leaving the thread open, it can be stickied for the time being.

 

I personally think that a guide for new people like myself would be nice. It would help us navigate around the site with more ease and learn how to do different things.

 

I'd be interested in writing a few things to keep people safe on the market. I'll submit something which will cover common scams, and things to take into account when trading. Too many people get scammed when they start out here, I imagine a significant portion of people just give up on the whole forum all together after being scammed on their first trade. Or, even worse, they get the impression that the best way to make money is to use Sythe to scam. If you want to retain active members, the best way to do it is to educate new users and have them trading smartly right from the start.

You could even make the argument that people answer a brief skill testing survey before becoming a member here. 3-4 basic questions which basically enforce the fact that:

- Imposter scams are common
- Accounts can be recovered
- Paypal can be charged back

 

If someone can be the lead project manager, and list us what jobs need to be done, maybe people who are interested in helping can pick which job they would like to complete to speed up finishing this.

 

This sounds like a really good Idea. I know that just reading the brief little explanation you have given here I have learned more already then I knew before. So, If someone was to elaborate on it I think it would only help.
